After years of award-worthy performances across all genres, American actress Kristen Bell finally landed her first Primetime Emmy Award nomination.

Earlier today, Brenda Song and Harvey Guillén announced the nominations for the Emmy Awards 2025, where Bell bagged a much-deserved nom in the category of Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Netflix's Nobody Wants This.

Her latest Netflix romantic drama series was also nominated for the Best Comedy series, along with an acting nom for her co-star Adam Brody.

For Kristen Bell’s fans, this long-overdue Emmy nom feels like the industry finally catching up to what they've known all along—she's been delivering award-worthy performances for years.

More about Kristen Bell's debut Primetime Emmy nomination in our story.

77th Primetime Emmy Awards 2025: All about Kristen Bell's debut nomination

While it is certainly hard to believe, the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards mark the first nomination for Kristen Bell in the category of Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

Despite a career spanning over decades, Bell was never recognized by the Academy until Netflix's Nobody Wants This. Erin Foster's 2024 romantic drama series debuted with high praise from critics and audiences alike, but nobody thought that it would finally land Bell her first (but much-deserving) Emmy nomination.

In addition to this latest Emmy nomination, the breakthrough series, which is currently in production for Season 2, also landed Kristen Bell her second Golden Globe Award nomination in the category of Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy in 2025.

Bell's debut Primetime Emmy Award nomination surely suggests that her role as an agnostic podcaster in Nobody Wants This struck a chord with the audience like never before, and she is ready for another adventure with her co-star Brody.

While this is surely a celebratory moment for The Good Place actress, the race to the award will surely be difficult as the category has some highly talented and deserving actresses, including Uzo Aduba (The Residence), Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) and 2024's winner Jean Smart (Hacks).

A look back at Kristen Bell's career as she bags her first Primetime Emmy award nomination

While Nobody Wants This marks her debut Primetime Emmy award nomination, Kristen Bell has captivated and entertained her fans, both on the small and big screens, for almost two decades now.

With her 2004 two-episode breakthrough debut on Deadwood, Bell entered the small screen with a bang. While Deadwood racked a total of 11 Emmy nominations, Bell was not recognized for her guest role in the show.

However, Deadwood's success paved the way for her 2004 neo-noir mystery drama series Veronica Mars, where she played the titular character. While Bell was nominated for the Television Critics Association Award for Individual Achievement in Drama for the 2004 series, she was snubbed at the Primetime Emmy Awards.

After a streak of near misses, NBC's 2016 fantasy sitcom The Good Place was sure to be Bell's debut Emmy. However, the show only got acting noms for her fellow co-stars, Ted Danson, D'Arcy Carden, William Jackson Harper, and Maya Rudolph, and Bell was again left out of the fold.

While the wait was surely frustrating, the reward is equally sweet as Bell finally bagged her first Emmy acting nom for Nobody Wants This.

The 2025 Emmy Awards will be held on September 14, 2025.
