More on 9-1-1 Season 8
Bobby’s death has been a major shocker of 9-1-1 Season 8 and Angela Bassett, who plays Athena, talked about how Bobby’s death feels personal to her. In an interview with PEOPLE, Bassett said,
“I'm in mourning. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. It wasn't my choice. I don't know.”
For the fans, she said,
“Keep hope alive. Maybe he'll return in my dreams, you know, my memories.”
Given the fact that Athena and Bobby, played by Bassett and Peter Krause, respectively, have been together in the show since the time it premiered, Bassett’s feelings about the death of her on-screen partner is quite natural. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said,
“You know when your eyes just lock and you don’t know what to say? And you just bear hug each other and then you just shake your head. And bless his heart — he had to comfort all of us. He truly had to comfort all of us while he’s going through his own processing in the moment.”
Krause also holds similar emotions for Bassett as he told THR,
“I will miss my partner, Angela Bassett.”
Explaining his rather sudden exit from the show, Krause told Variety,
“Bobby Nash was written in sacrifice and he was built for this. First responders risk their lives on the job so that others can see another day. His story arc honors them.”
Bobby’s death will naturally be heavily impacting the finale and it would be at once interesting and heartbreaking to see how the 118 proceed from here without him.
9-1-1 can be streamed on Hulu.
