Love Is Blind Season 9 Episode 2 featured one more blind date between Madison and Joe. While talking about various things, she revealed her eye condition and potentially going blind.
At first, Joe was shocked to know and told her that he was still processing everything she had shared. He then asked her to share more about it and talked about how he would want to be the person to help and take care.
While opening up to Joe about her eye condition, Love Is Blind star Madison told him:
"I currently am fully functional. My eyes don't look weird or anything. But I have something called retinitis pigmentosa, which is a degenerative eye condition. I have a hard time seeing in low light and, like, peripherally. The amount of times I've had people trying to give me a high-five or something, and I'll miss it."
She added:
"It's important to know that there is a possibility that my eyesight could get worse. It can lead to blindness."
Love Is Blind Season 9: Madison opens up to Joe about her eye condition and what might happen further down the road
During one of their blind dates, Joe told Madison that he was "super excited" to live together. The two talked about big things that might come up between them. Both of them talked about "what's wrong with you?" question and laughed about it. Soon, Madison told him that she had one thing to share.
She shared about her degenerative eye condition, which was called retinitis pigmentosa. Love Is Blind star noted that because of her condition, she would miss a high-five if someone were to give her one.
One of the possibilities of her eye condition might also lead to Madison going blind. After learning what Madison shared, Joe was speechless.
"I'm sorry to hear that," reacted Joe.
He also asked Madison if her condition was something that would happen for sure, later on. She responded that it wasn't for sure. She had met people with a similar diagnosis who didn't lose their eyesight until they were around 90. However, she also added:
"I've met people that are younger than me that have far less vision than me. So, it is so dependent on the person."
Joe asked her whether there was something that she could do. She said there was nothing. Love Is Blind star Madison added that her eye condition was really the reason why she participated in the social experiment.
"To feel those emotions with somebody without seeing them, you know, prior to potentially going blind."
Seeing how Joe was still speechless, Madison told him that she knew it was a lot to think about. She also told him that she was quite serious about it and, she didn't talk about the subject lightly.
Joe thanked Madison for sharing about her condition with her and also apologized to her.
"And I'm sorry. I don't know...I'm just processing that right now. If I'm coming off a certain way, I mean, I hope not..." said Joe.
But Madison assured that he wasn't "coming off a certain way." Joe added that if his wife were to be affected with such a condition, he would love to help and take care.
Love Is Blind star added that it didn't change the way he felt about her. He also asked her if she had anything on her mind about him, for which she had to "pause."
"No, there's literally not any pause at all," said Madison.
He asked if it was "scary." Madison noted that the scary part was that it was "really real" and that she felt accepted by him every step of the way. While she felt it was "really right," Joe felt that she was "very special."
