When Paradise premiered on Hulu earlier this year, it became a massive hit with its unexpected twists and turns. Set in an underground city-sized bunker, the show revolves around the murder of the president.

As Xavier Collins, the president's Secret Service security agent, investigates the murder, he finds out some dark secrets about the creation of the bunker. Meanwhile, it is revealed that the entire system is indirectly run by Samantha "Sinatra" Redmond, played by Julianne Nicholson.

As Paradise Season 2 is now in production, Julianne Nicholson has talked about what to expect from the upcoming episodes. In an interview with Deadline, the actress said that the next season will feature more action as it explores the world outside the bunker:

“We’re in the end zone, and it all ramps up to this last block, similarly to the first season. It is a much different season this year, where we explore outside the bunker as well, and there’s a lot more action in different locations, and the energy sort of ramps up as the season goes on. So, we’re in the thick of it right now.”

At the end of Paradise Season 1, Sinatra fights for her life as she is shot by Agent Jane Driscoll. Series creator Dan Fogelman has already confirmed that she won’t spend much time in the hospital in Season 2 and will be back in action soon.

While she served as a major antagonist in the previous season, Sterling K. Brown, who plays Xavier Collins, revealed that the audience might start to see Sinatra in a new light as different shades of her personality are explored in the second season. He said in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly:

“She got shot. It hurt. There's a little bit of a recovery that has to take place there, and Dan has stated that there is more than meets the eye with regards to Samantha/Sinatra, I like to call her by her government name. His stated goal is continuing to unearth who she is as a person and what her motivations are.”

Brown added:

“I would even go so far as to say he is attempting a path of redemption. Whether Xavier sees that path or not, [I don't know]. He still probably just wants to kill her. But there's a little bit more that we learn about her throughout the course of the season that may change the way in which people see her.”

Paradise premiered on Hulu in January 2025 and soon topped the streaming charts. Halfway through the first season, the show was renewed for a second chapter, which began production in March. The series is now expected to return in 2026.

Apart from Sterling K. Brown as Xavier Collins and Julianne Nicholson as Samantha "Sinatra" Redmond, the show stars Nicole Brydon Bloom as Agent Jane Driscoll, Percy Daggs IV as James Collins, Aliyah Mastin as Presley Collins, Sarah Shahi as Dr. Gabriela Torabi, and James Marsden as President Cal Bradford.
