"A spine of concrete and steel": Sister Wives' Kody Brown weighs in on claims that Robyn is "submissive"

TLC shared a few clips from the latest Sister Wives Season 20 episode. During the Tell-All, various cast members appeared separately and answered various questions.

During one of the sessions, Janelle noted that Robyn was submissive. Later, when the show host asked Kody the same question, he refused. He said that Robyn had a spine made of concrete and steel. Kody Brown shared:

"Robyn's not submissive. She has a spine of concrete and steel. Robyn's submissive?! It's funny that Janelle would say that Robyn's submissive when Janelle's also accused Robyn of sort of brainwashing me or controlling me. It's like, What is it, Janelle? Am I Robyn's puppet or is she mine? No. We're a partnership. We negotiate through things."

One of the Sister Wives clips, shared on January 10, 2026, featured the host asking Meri's close friend Jenn about Robyn. She asked whether she felt that Robyn was submissive. Jenn responded:

"I do, and I feel like that works for Kody. That's what he wants. Follow the rules, do what I say, don't get out of line. And I'm sure that there's times when she pushes back or stands for herself. I'm sure there is. But ultimately, he wants submissive."

She added that Kody didn't want someone who would stand up and fight against him.

In a separate session, the host asked Janelle whether she and Meri were playing Girl Games. Janelle asked:

"I don't...what Girl Games? What would we be even playing?"

The host noted that Kody felt that Robyn was very good at reading nuance. She asked about the "nuance" that Robyn was reading into, and what the Girl Games were.

Sister Wives star Janelle shared that she didn't know what the Girl Games were. She knew that she and Meir were not doing anything other than getting the project done. Janelle said:

"And I think Kody puts a lot of score on the nuance that Robyn reads. But I'm not sure that her nuance reading is always accurate. In fact, I know. It's not."

The host asked whether there were any "Sister Wives Games." She also asked Janelle about Robyn being "submissive." Janelle noted that Kody walked himself into that situation. The host assumed that name-calling meant Girl Games. Janelle was unsure about it. She noted that Kody had called her many names throughout the negotiation.

Another clip, shared on January 9, 2026, saw Kody answering a few of Janelle's comments. The host asked Kody whether Robyn was "submissive." Kody noted that she was not submissive. He also noted that there were other accusations from Janelle about him being Robyn's puppet and vice versa. He added that there was a partnership between him and Robyn and that they negotiated through things.
