America's Got Talent Season 20, Episode 2, dropped on NBC on June 3, 2025, and saw yet another golden buzzer light up. This time, it was Mel B behind the deed, even though Sofia Vergara was vying to have the spot for herself. Mel B was ultimately impressed by the Messoudi Brothers, who were awarded the golden buzzer.

The auditions continued with this episode and featured a kids' group who danced, various singers, and a rock band. Previously, we had seen that Simon Cowell used his Golden Buzzer to greenlight LightWire, while Jordan Blue was given the same opportunity to enter directly into the finale by judge Howie Mandel.

Terry Crews returned as a host for the season, and even he has the power to hit a golden buzzer. These are awarded when an act is so exceptional that it is worthy of receiving a ticket to the finale. Apart from that, each act needs to receive at least three approvals from four judges to advance to the next round.

America's Got Talent Season 20 Episode 2 Recap—

The acts

The first act on this episode of America's Got Talent was by Tani, who did drone tricks. They were not able to proceed and ended up getting eliminated. Citilimitz was the second to perform, and they are a vocal band.

The group got all four yeses from the judges. Then there was Amanda Badertscher. She did football target tricks and also swept all the yeses. Howie, who was amazed by her performance, remarked,

"I'm a girl dad. I am so thrilled you set a great example. That was incredibly inspirational."

The next act was by Kid Clippers, who are a dance crew. They got a chance to proceed to the next round after getting all four yeses. Sofia was quite impressed with their performance.

Afterwards came the TT Boys, an acrobatic duet who received a lot of positive feedback. Howie called their performance "brilliant."

Disappointment followed the next performer, named Austin Brown, who is a vocalist. He managed to get two yeses, but those weren't enough for him to proceed. Simon said,

"My advice is, honestly, next time, rather than doing something slightly generic... talk to the producer, if we can find another day, yes [you can sing another song]."

Next up was Cole Swensen, a musician who performed with her mother playing the cello. He was able to bag an approval from all four judges.

A group of scary clowns called Phobias came next. They frightened Howie and also got all four yeses. Girish and the Chronicles came after that. They are a rock band from Sikkim, India, and were able to get all four yeses.

America's Got Talent Season 20 Episode 2 Recap—The Golden Buzzer

Mel B's Golden Buzzer on America's Got Talent was hit for the Messoudi Brothers. They performed a juggling act and managed to impress all four of the judges. However, Mel decided that they deserved more than just words of appreciation and pressed her buzzer. Commenting on the act, she said,

"Can I just say, having seen you before, I didn't think you'd be able to top it. It was really frightening to watch you take them off... but I was that scared for you to put them back on. But I do think I wanna say one thing to you - I think you were perfect."

Sofia Vergara, who was herself planning to press the buzzer, complained to Mel, saying,

"I was gonna do it. That was my Golden Buzzer... she did it out of nowhere. She took it away."

America's Got Talent season 20 releases episodes every week on NBC at 8 PM Eastern Time on Tuesdays. The episodes can be watched via Peacock the next day.
