Cassian's brush with Force and his return to Ghorman in Andor Season 2 Episode 7
Episode 7 of Season 2 takes us to a year after Cinta's death. Wilmon Paak returns to Yavin 4, the home of the Rebellion, after a mission that Luthen ordered him to complete. However, Cassian does not share the same sentiments, as he is skeptical of Wil following Luthen's orders and helping to destroy Ghorman, which is what the Empire also seems to be conquering.
As expected, the Empire's propaganda is in full swing as reporters characterize the Ghorman resistance as terrorist attacks, without explaining why the resistance was formed in the first place. We see Syril Karn and Dedra grappling with the current situation in Ghorman, as one lacks information while the other disapproves of how events have unfolded. Furthermore, the arrival of Captain Kaido (Jonjo O'Neill) may bring further bad news for Ghorman.
In the episode, Cassian reluctantly visits a Force healer due to Bix, who treats his shoulder injury. Although Cassian struggles to believe in everything related to the Force, he decides to join Wil in returning to Ghorman to confront Dedra.
Cassian finds himself amid another Imperial attack in Andor Season 2 Episode 8
Cassian's attempts to assassinate Dedra take a back seat to the arrival of mining equipment being delivered across the country, while barricades set up by the Imperials in the Plaza prepare for the upcoming event as protesters begin to line up around it.
With the new developments, the people of Palmo emerge from their homes to protest against the Emperor's destruction of their planet. However, they remain unaware of the looming danger around them. After Dedra issues the order, Kaido commands the Stormtroopers to fire at the protesters who are already trapped inside the Plaza. However, this unfolds differently as the first shot is fired from a sniper, not at a protester, but at one of the Imperials.
Assuming the protesters attacked him, the Stormtroopers begin attacking the protesters, and all hell breaks loose as the innocent people are either brought down by the Stormtroopers or due to the people trying to escape the Plaza.
Cassian finds himself in another Imperial attack, where people are being massacred, just like what he witnessed in Ferrix. However, he still wants to finish his job and aims to kill Dedra until Syril Karn notices him. After years of obsessing over his hatred for Cassian, Syril finally finds and attacks him. Caught off guard during a fistfight with an unknown person, Cassian manages to defend himself and asks who he is as he aims his blaster at him. But before he can introduce himself, Syril is shot in the head by Rylenz.
Aftermath of the massacre and Mon Mothma's anti-Empire speech in Andor Season 2 Episode 9
The massacre that killed Enza and many other innocent people in Ghorman depicted the obsession of Palpatine with building the Death Star and destroying lives and homes without any guilt. Mon finally decides to speak up against the Empire.
She plans to give an anti-Empire speech, after which she will be extracted from the planet and taken to Yavin 4. However, her chances of getting the mic looked grim until Bail Organa provided that opportunity by giving her the floor when his chance to speak came. Mon seizes the opportunity and speaks her heart out, claiming how evil Palpatine is and urging everyone in the galaxy to stand up against the evil force.
After the powerful speech, Cassian rescues Mon from Ghorman. He returns to Yavin and informs Bix that he does not want to go on any more missions and that this was his last. The next day, he receives a video message from Bix where she tells him that she is going on an assignment with a rebel group. As long as they are together, Cassian will try to turn his back on the fight against the Empire, and she does not want him to do that. Although brokenhearted, as we know, he will not meet Bix again since she is not in Rogue One. However, we do get to meet an important character from the movie, the KX unit, K-2SO.
