Paris-based APC acquires global rights to French series Blue Gold
Unifrance Rendez-Vous commenced on September 1, 2025, and will also premiere Blue Gold among numerous other French Television shows. APC, also known as About Premium Content, will be responsible for bringing the French show to a global audience.
The French crime series will follow the story of three women: Flore, whose curiosity will take her to unravel some deep, dark secrets of her family, her mother, Alice, and her grandmother, who will shed light on the perplexing secrets of the family. From murder, secrets, family drama, to natural disasters such as a drought, Blue Gold will depict a tale that would also show the changing climate and its effect on the lives of the living beings of the planet.
As per Variety, Julie Mateille, the head of international sales at APC, describes the series as a “family saga” and stated:
"“Blue Gold” is a family saga and crime series, mixing a gripping mystery with a curse tied to water. At its heart, it’s about what we pass down – good or bad – from generation to generation. The series contrasts the lush nature of the 1980s with today’s harsher reality, underlining the impact of climate change."
She also shared that the French series blends “soapy elements” such as using sentimental and manipulative elements in the story with a “classic” murder mystery that will intrigue viewers of all generations across the globe.
The story of the crime series takes place in Southern France, and also stars Sylvie Granotier, Eric Caravaca, Samir Boitard, Tom Leeb, and Déborah Krey, along with Probst. It is directed by Hippolyte Dard, who is known for his work in Astrid et Raphaëlle, and is written by Ludovic Lacroix and Marie-Anne Le Pezennec.
Authentic Prod, one of Banijay Entertainment's banners, which has developed Blue Gold, has also given numerous popular French TV shows, such as Hippolyte Dard’s Sam and the French version of This is Us called Je te promets, among many others.
