The third episode of Black Rabbit, Skin Contact, takes us into the complicated lives of the Friedken brothers, Jake and Vince. We see how elements from their past, along with financial concerns and ethical dilemmas, culminate in an absolute breakdown of everyone's moral compass while running the restaurant.

As this episode unfolds, Jake has a lot on his plate, navigating the day-to-day operation of the restaurant while dealing with Vince's fluctuating moods and managing finances on top of facing a number of ethical dilemmas.

It reveals that Jake and Vince haven't really moved on from the past, as certain events still affect them. Years back, Vince's carelessness resulted in a staff member being paralyzed, and then Jake had to come to his younger brother's rescue with a large settlement amount.

His present life isn't less chaotic either. Jake is falling into debt, the investor is keeping an eye on him, and above all, the Black Rabbit staff is also struggling. So, this makes Jake's situation incredibly tough, as protecting Vince is another job he has to perform.

Black Rabbit Episode 3 recap: Flashbacks reveal Vince and Jake's past amid their tough condition

The episode starts with a two-year-old flashback, shedding light on the friction between Jake and Vince. Vince's irresponsible antics, like nonstop partying fueled by cocaine with staffer Trevor, get Trevor paralyzed.

Even though Trevor's family wants to defend Vince, Jake steps in to protect his brother and covers the $500,000 settlement. Jake ends up buying Vince out of his ownership in the restaurant. Vince doesn't like being forced out, but he really doesn't have a say.

In the present, Jake is obligated to pay $20,000 per week to Mancuso, a loan shark, as a result of Vince's prior obligation to Mancuso. He tried to borrow $200,000 from Andy, but Andy will not do that without collateral.

Jake is even taking items to a pawn shop to try to raise some cash, which demonstrates how desperate he is to keep the business running. Vince suggests a fraud charity fundraiser in Black Rabbit episode 3, using his childhood recollection of their father's "Little League raffle" to obtain money.

Initially hesitant, Jake participates, and the fundraiser pays off, covering both the fundraiser and an accounting discrepancy of $100,000 in the restaurant's books. This explains that not just Vince, but Jake also makes decisions that are not so wise in Black Rabbit episode 3.

As episode 3 of Black Rabbit continues, Jake experiences a lot of tension at work. Even the staff is tense, and Roxie wants Jake to hold people accountable for their actions. Especially, Jules, who misbehaves with the staff and must be fired.

However, Jake has to think about both Vince and the staff. He wants to make the right decision, but isn't in the position to do so. Later, the fundraiser begins and Vince crosses paths with Trevor, the staff member who ended up paralyzed because of him.

Meanwhile, Jules almost causes Mel, the hostess, to overdose, and Vince sees it but lies to Jake, which causes more conflict. On top of all this, Jake is getting closer to Estelle, the interior designer, which adds more personal complications.

By the end of Black Rabbit episode 3, Jake checks the security footage and finds proof of Jules’ bad behavior. Now he’s stuck: should he delete the footage to avoid trouble, or do the right thing and protect his staff, even if it means facing legal problems?
