The episode begins with Yeon Ji-young tied up and being taken to the King's court. She's accused of messing with the King's mind with her food. So, the advisors and ministers ask their leader to behead the woman for her actions.

However, King Lee-heon shocks everyone by declaring that Ji-young is now the head cook of the royal kitchen. Lee-heon says:

"This woman served me a strange dish and confused my senses... I command that she be immediately appointed as the chief royal cook!"

This not only shocks Ji-young, but also the advisors and ministers, as they couldn't believe that a woman has been given such a big responsibility. The episode then shifts to the time from where Yeon Ji-young came: The year 2025.

There, Ji-young is about to complete her dish in the finale of the French competition, but her stove stops working. She uses her brain and grills the steak on grass, using a technique of the Joseon era.

Eventually, Ji-young wins the biggest cooking battle and becomes a three-Michelin-star chef. But just before she joins her new position, Ji-young falls into the Joseon era after she reads the last lines from an ancient book during the solar eclipse.

Back at the palace, everyone is preparing for the solar eclipse event, but the King has gone hunting (something he should prevent on such a day). However, King Lee-heon doesn't seem much interested in following such beliefs, and also remembers the time when his mother lost her life.

Later in the Bon Appétit, Your Majesty episode, the King asks the Chief Eunuch to take the hunted deer to the royal kitchen, and plans to continue the trip. However, the man suggests the King should return to the palace as he worries about the rebels attacking him again, and since a ritual is taking place, not attending it might upset the heavens.

Not only this, it might also lead to the appearance of a "Gwinyeo", a female ghost. However, the King brushes off the concerns, and while hunting, he notices a fox. While following the animal, Lee-heon stumbles upon Ji-young.

As the Bon Appétit, Your Majesty episode continues, he finds her wearing unusual clothes and using words like "mobile phone", "actor", and more that he doesn't understand. In one of the most humorous moments, King Lee-heon misunderstood Ji-young as a female ghost.

Even she's confused and amazed to see how a man keeps on calling himself a King. She takes out her light stick for self-defence, and the King thinks it's a silver dagger used by evil female ghosts.

Suddenly, a rebel shoots the King, which results in him and Ji-young falling from the cliff. Thankfully, they survive, and Ji-young helps treat his wound. But Lee-heon continues to believe that Ji-young is a female ghost.

While Lee-heon and Ji-young are clashing with each other, Prince Je-san is plotting against the King. Back at the mountain, Lee-heon asks Ji-young to believe he's the King, while Ji-young also claims that she's a professional chef.

But the two fail to understand each other, leading to comedic moments. Later in the Bon Appétit, Your Majesty premiere, Ji-young finally finds a house to stay in and some clothes. She then meets a young woman named Gil-geum, who helps her prepare food.

However, no human is allowed to live in that area, as it's restricted only for hunting. But Gilgeum wanted to escape the typical practices of taking women to the palace where people would choose them, so she ended up hiding there.

While the King is tied up and completely exhausted, Ji-young and Gilgeum prepare food. The chef even uses the butter and Gochujang, which she carried in her jacket. The food turns out to be incredibly tasty and even brings tears to the King's eyes.

He starts thinking about his deceased mother after tasting Ji-young's food, and thinks she's special. As the first episode comes to an end, the King's soldiers rescue him and will take the women for punishment.
