Episode 10 of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty was packed with tension and romance between Ji-young and King Lee-heon at the palace. After being accused of poisoning Grand Prince Jinmyeong, Ji-young was able to prove her innocence and helped cure the King’s younger brother.

However, this wouldn't have been possible without Gong-gil, the jester who has been one of the key figures in the K-drama. Now, the big question is: Is Gong-gil the rebel who shot an arrow at the King in the first episode?

The answer is yes. Gong-gil is indeed the rebel who tried to eliminate King Lee-heon in the premiere of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty. And now, he has become one of his strongest allies. But why?

Flashback scenes revealed that Gong-gil had a sister who died at the palace. He knew that she had been killed, and the culprit was either the King or Consort Kang. Gong-gil attacked Lee-heon, believing that he was the one responsible for his sister's death.

But eventually, he realized that Lee-heon isn’t actually the cruel emperor people say he is. And in the latest episode, Kang Mok-ju's confidant, Chu-wol revealed that she killed Gong-gil's sister after receiving the order from Consort Kang.

As previously explained, Gong-gil believed that his sister died because of the King, and that's the reason he chose to attack him in the first episode of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty. Since no one was able to identify the rebel, Gong-gil continued to work as a member of the namsadang, a troupe of male entertainers who serve as jesters for the king.

In the later episodes, King Lee-heon can be seen approaching Gong-gil during his secret plans, including the search for his mother's killers. This proved that Gong-gil isn't just a jester but a skilled fighter who faces dangers every day.

In episode 10, the King once again called Gong-gil for help in tracking down the female physician who tampered with Jinmyeong's medicines. When Gong-gil finally found her, he also confronted Consort Kang's servant, Chu-wol.

During the fight, Chu-wol reveals knowing that Gong-gil is the rebel. Later, she also admits to killing his sister as Consort Kang didn't like the young woman around the King, trying to influence him.

This is the reason why Gong-gil's sister was killed, and now he knows the culprit. Gong-gil realized that he was wrong about the King and must prove to be his confidant until the very end in Bon Appétit, Your Majesty.
