Tensions rise in Bon Appétit, Your Majesty after King Lee-heon shocks Yeon Ji-young with a kiss in the latest episode. The K-drama follows the story of a chef from 2025 who is now the head chef in the Joseon era, after she mysteriously ends up in a different timeline.

Soon after King Lee-heon saw Ji-young, he believed she was the evil witch everyone was talking about on the day of the solar eclipse. Whereas Ji-young believed that the man had lost his mind as he kept calling himself the King.

Eventually, Ji-young realized she had been pulled 500 years back in time, into one of the most turbulent periods of the Joseon dynasty. The King was known to be cruel and was later dethroned from his position.

Since Ji-young belongs to 2025, she knows the history and tells the King to be cautious and not to blindly trust his close ones in Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 4. She even won Dowager Queen In-ju's heart by making a dish that reminded the Queen of her mother.

Episode 4 of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is titled "Course N° 4 **** and Spinach Doenjang Soup", and opens with the big cooking contest organized by Dowager Queen In-ju. Ji-young faces Chef Eom and Chef Maeng, with tofu and doenjang as the main ingredients. At first, Ji-young thinks of making doenjang pasta, a dish tied to her father.

But when the other chefs grab all the best ingredients, she is left with scraps. She manages to get spinach and receives unexpected help from Eunuch Yoon, who gives her good-quality doenjang and tells her about Queen In-ju’s mother’s last meal.

Inspired, Ji-young decides to recreate that special soup instead. With Gil-geum’s risky effort to fetch clams, she completes the dish and surprises everyone. Unlike the other chefs’ fancy plates, her humble soup moves Queen In-ju to tears, and Yeon Ji-young is declared the winner.

After Ji-young is declared the winner of the cook-off in Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 4, the King asks his men to cut the arms of Chef Eom and Chef Maeng. Everyone is scared, including Queen In-ju, who has been eating food made by Chef Maeng for years.

Ji-young also feels bad for them and asks the King to spare them. Initially, Lee-heon was frustrated with Ji-young's words, but later agreed as Queen In-ju also requested him not to hurt those chefs.

This way, Ji-young won hearts and received respect at the royal kitchen. However, Consort Kang's plan failed, and she didn't even plead for Chef Maeng's life, who had been serving her for a long time.

Later in the episode of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, King Lee-heon learned that Consort Kang was behind scheming this competition. Not only this, but he even confronts her about the rumor that Governor Hong was exiled because Ji-young started from Jahongwon.

Consort Kang, being the most clever and evil woman, tries to manipulate the King using his late mother. Lee-heon suddenly experiences fits and pushes away Kang Mok-ju, who tries to calm him down.

Meanwhile, Prince Jesan continues to pretend to be the dumbest minister. But the reality is that he's scheming against the King, and Consort Kang is the one helping him. He learns about Ji-young and is now willing to taste her food.

After losing another chance to learn about his mother's death, King Lee-heon gets angry, and everyone is worried that he might throw anyone out of the palace. Ji-young and the cooks also learn that the King isn't in a good mood, so there must be no mistake in the food.

Ji-young thinks about the doenjang pasta that her father used to make when she was sad. She prepares the same for King Lee-heon, and he admits liking it. The King also asks about Ji-young's parents, and mentions that she must have felt lonely, too, without her mother.

Ji-young then confesses she is from the future but hides the truth about his downfall. Lee-heon later writes about her dish in a book with the same title as her cookbook, "Mangunrok," causing the original to vanish.

Towards the end of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 4, tragedy strikes as Yi Jang-yun, who was investigating Lee-heon’s mother’s death, is killed. He drowns his grief in alcohol.

Later, when Ji-young is summoned to serve him, she finds the King vulnerable and inebriated. In a charged moment, Lee-heon pulls her close and kisses her, ending the episode on a powerful cliffhanger.
