Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 5 recap: Ji-young's frustration and rising suspicion in the palace

Titled "Course N° 5 Snowflake Schnitzel," Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 5 begins with Ji-young still simmering with anger from the night before. She vents her frustration in the kitchen but still manages to prepare a delicious pollack soup for Yi Heon.
While Ji-young serves the food, Lee-heon immediately realizes that something is wrong. Ji-young shoots him a death stare, her sleepless night clearly visible in her dark circles.
She tries to explain to the King what he did last night, and that he's not the type of man she admires, but the King barely remembers anything. Lee-heon then calls Chang-seon inside the room to ask about what happened to Ji-young.
Chang-seon says, "You laid your lips upon hers, your majesty", which shocks Lee-heon. He finally recalls the moment and feels guilty. But being the King, Lee-heon cannot openly apologize to Ji-young.
Later in the palace, Gong-gil shows up and talks to Ji-young. She asks him about the woman who attacked Gil-geum, but Gong-gil couldn't see her face. However, he did manage to grab her hairpin, and it turned out to be Chu-wol's.
The hairpin triggers a hurtful flashback, which reveals that Gong-gil's elder sister died at Jahongwon under Consort Kang’s orders. And Gong-gil found a similar hairpin in his sister's hand after her dead body was sent home.

Consort Kang's jealousy deepens in Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 5

As Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Episode 5 continues, King Lee-heon is informed that Yu Kun, a Ming envoy whom he dislikes, will soon arrive at the palace. Unlike other envoys, Yu Kun is known to be incredibly greedy and rude.
The ministers plan to give him a huge amount of silver and gold, which makes the King unhappy. Lee-heon orders the ministers not to give Yu Kun anything this precious until he presents his wants.
Back at Consort Kang's Jahongwon, she learns about Ji-young and King Lee-heon's kiss, which deepens her hatred and jealousy towards her. All she wants is Yeon Ji-young to leave the palace and vanish from the King's sight, so she hands over some poison to Chef Maeng, ordering him to pour it into Ji-young's food to kill her.
With so much happening and no clues about her mother's death, Lee-heon becomes restless. He refuses to eat food, and just when Ji-young is about to sleep, the King asks his servant to bring something good to eat.
Ji-young prepared multiple dishes throughout the day, and she finally prepared one more at night. Instead of a fancy cuisine, Ji-young makes chicken soup for Lee-heon, which ultimately lifts his spirits.
The King is satisfied with the food, and Ji-young is happy to witness how Lee-heon enjoyed the soup. As she goes back, Lee-heon watches her dancing and going, which makes his heart beat faster.

Amid the palace intrigue, Consort Kang comes up with an idea to let down Ji-young in front of the King. It's the day of Lee-heon's physical examination, and Prince Jesan will also show up for lunch. So, Consort Kang asks Chef Maeng to prepare special dishes.
When Ji-young is informed about this, she doesn't step back. Since the King didn't give her any order, Ji-young continues with her plan to make special pork cutlets for Lee-heon and Prince Jesan in Bon Appétit, Your Majesty episode 5.
While Kang sticks to her usual recipe, Ji-young boldly introduces something new: Schnitzel, a German recipe. The dish astonishes everyone, with both Lee-heon and Prince Jesan clearing their plates.
When they ask Consort Kang for her wish, she cleverly mentions wanting the King to be healthy. As for Ji-young, she wanted to ask for her handbag, but she only asked for fresh ingredients for the royal kitchen.
In the final moments of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty episode 5, Ji-young is amazed to see the garden used to grow ingredients only for the royal family. Ji-young recalls this as the "first greenhouse" she learned about from her history book.
The King gives her a tour and surprises Ji-young with her handbag. She hugs the King, making his heart race once again. The King wants to confess his growing feelings for her, but holds back. The episode ended with Ji-young trying to hold King Lee-heon as he fell, but she also lost her balance, and the two ended up collapsing together, once again finding themselves close to each other.
