Michael Connelly is helming a drama based on his crime reporting career
Based on Michael Connelly’s novels, Bosch, Bosch: Legacy, and Ballard are among Prime Video’s superhit shows, while The Lincoln Lawyer is among the top legal dramas on the popular streaming platform, Netflix.
Now, the crime fiction novelist is developing a series that will be based on his own earlier life. In 1980, after graduating from the University of Florida, Connelly joined the Daytona Beach News-Journal as a crime reporter. After working there for a while, he joined the Fort Lauderdale News and Sun-Sentinel.
Michael Connelly was a dedicated crime reporter who also won a Pulitzer Prize for covering the story of the survivors of the Delta Flight 191 plane crash in 1985. Besides this, he also covered the formidable cocaine wars taking place in the vibrant city of South Florida.
The untitled project is said to be inspired by his time in both publications. Therefore, it might bring back the stories related to crime in 1980s Florida. The upcoming drama series is being developed by Paramount Television Studios.
Theresa Snider and Rick Jackson will join Connelly and Leonard as producers of the upcoming series. Deadline reported that the project came into existence in Skydance Television and became a part of PTVS studio after the former was acquired by Paramount Global.
Other than taking inspiration from Connelly’s crime reporting career, not much about the premise, cast, or release date has been shared about the series yet.
