Can we expect a Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 teaser this week as the franchise turns 20? Speculations explored

Fans are hopeful that the first teaser for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 will be released this week as the beloved franchise turns 20. Twenty years ago, on June 28, 2005, the first book, The Lightning Thief, was published. The events of the said book were adapted for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1, which streamed in December 2023.

Now, two years later, the second season is set to begin streaming on Disney+ in December 2025 (but no release date yet). As of now, we don't have a release date for season 2 yet, and all we have for now is a poster, but no teaser. Therefore, while the franchise turns 20, the chances of getting the first teaser of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 this week are slim.

So, when can we expect the first teaser for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2?

As of now, we don't know when the teaser will be released. Actors Leah Jeffries and Walker Scobell addressed the possible release date for a teaser at the upfront presentation in May 2025. Jeffries told a TVLine interviewer that fans can expect the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 teaser somewhere in August or September 2025.

However, Walker Scobell, who plays the titular character, had a different answer when he was asked the same question. Scobell said, “Look out for the Comic-Cons… like July.” This comment suggests that we can expect a Percy Jackson panel at SDCC that's scheduled between July 24 and July 27, 2025.

This is not surprising considering that the show has had its presence in previous Comic-Cons as well. Therefore, it won't be surprising if we get a teaser or a new poster for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 at SDCC next month.

What do we know about Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2?

As mentioned before, Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is adapting the second book in the Percy Jackson series, The Sea of Monsters. In that book, Percy, Annabeth, and his cyclops half-brother Tyson sneak out of the camp to rescue Grover, who is trapped. This unsanctioned rescue mission merges with Clarisse La Rue's sanctioned quest to bring the golden fleece to Camp Half-Blood.

"The second installment of Disney Hyperion’s best-selling book series by award-winning author Rick Riordan. Percy Jackson returns to Camp Half-Blood one year later to find his world turned upside down. His friendship with Annabeth is changing, he learns he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos. Moreover, we also know that after the second series, the popular series is returning for the third season. Disney officially renewed the series on March 14, 2025. President of Disney Branded Television, Ayo Davis, released this statement while renewing the third season:

“From the moment ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ debuted, it was clear this series had struck a chord with fans of all ages. With season two set to premiere this December, we’re thrilled to announce that Percy’s journey will continue with a third season. Huge thanks to our incredible cast and creative team, our partners at 20th Television, and our visionary and talented producers who continue to bring Rick Riordan’s world to life with such depth and imagination.”
