Weak Hero on Netflix is one of its popular Korean series, depicting friendships amid a violent background. It shows Park Ji-hun’s Yeon Si-eun and his fight against bullies to protect his friends. Aside from Si-eun, there is another fan-favorite character that won the hearts of the audience. Choi Hyun-wook’s Ahn Su-ho, who spent all of season 2 of Weak Hero in a coma, was one of the first friends that Si-eun made.
After impressing the audience with his charming character in Weak Hero, Choi Hyun-wook will next star in a psychological thriller called Notes from the Last Row. Netflix officially announced the production of the series on May 29, 2025. As per Netflix, the series is described as:
"This suspenseful drama centers around Heo Mun-oh, a grumpy literature professor and failed writer who becomes enamored by the talent of Lee Kang, a mysterious student who always sits in the back row of his class."
He will play an engineering student named Lee Kang, who possesses writing talent and impresses Heo Mun-oh, a literary professor at the university, who begins teaching him in personal classes. The tale gets twisted as Mun-oh’s character is described as complex, having been dealing with his failures and underachievement, and being jealous of his writer friend. The Netflix show will focus on how his character will impact Lee Kang.

After Weak Hero, Choi Hyun-wook will be seen in Notes from the Last Row
While in Weak Hero, Hyun-wook’s character, Su-ho, wasn’t a model student like Si-eun was at the beginning of the Netflix series. However, his fierce loyalty toward his friends and his easy-going personality made everyone around him comfortable, even Si-eun.
The character of Lee Kang in Notes from the Last Row appears to be different from Su-ho, and it would be interesting to see how Hyun-wook portrays this character in this psychological thriller. The Korean series is adapted from Juan Mayorga's Spanish play named El chico de la última fila (The Boy in the Last Row).
The Netflix series will revolve around Hyun-wook’s Lee Kang, who grabs the attention of his professor, but the tale gets twisted when the audience begins questioning Lee Kang’s own motives and his innocent appearance.
Other than that, his professor, Mun-oh, played by a veteran Korean character actor, Choi Min-sik, has his own complicated story as he begins to get obsessed with Lee Kang and his talent and gets more twisted when his best-selling author friend, Kim Su-hun, shows up, igniting the jealousy that he had felt toward Su-hun’s achievements and his failures.
