Culinary Class Wars Season 2 Episode 11: Judges chose Culinary Monster to advance to The Top 7 Semifinalists

The recently released Culinary Class Wars Season 2 Episode 11 featured the results of the final Life-or-Death match. The last team was Son Jong-won vs. Culinary Monster. They were waiting for the judges to reveal their decision.

Paik Jong-won chose Chef Son Jong-won. On the other hand, Anh Sung-jae chose Culinary Monster.

  • Paik Jong-won: Son Jong-won,
  • Anh Sung-jae: Culinary Monster.

However, their decision should match, and they could only choose one of the two chefs to advance to the Top 7 Semifinalists. Hence, they were asked to discuss among themselves and agree on one of the two chefs.

"For me, I really loved the way it kind of burst in your mouth. And in terms of harmony and cohesion, I just felt it was a little bit stronger," said Anh Sung-jae.

Culinary Class Wars judges then went to discuss which chef they would agree on choosing. Son Jong-won confessed that he was scared. Because it was "all or nothing" for him.

Anh Sung-jae noted that both the chef's dishes were delicious and well-made. Paik Jong-won agreed with him. However, the former noted that Culinary Monster's dish was slightly more balanced. It highlighted the individual ingredients more.

"And see, to me, it felt a bit...it felt a little strong, especially the sabayon. It...the flavor profile felt too one-sided," said Paik Jong-won.

Listening to that, Anh Sung-jae noted that sabayon was a sauce. That was the reason why flavor should be forward. He shared that while eating something with the Thousand Island dressing, they expect to taste it. The reason behind Sabayon's highlight in the dish was that the chef intended that.

Both judges agreed that Culinary Monster's dish was bolder, unique, and distinct. They also noted that Chef Son Jong-won's dish was a lot milder and understated.

"Waiting on the Life-or-Death Match results, for me, that was probably the most stressful moment of this entire competition," confessed Culinary Monster.

Soon, the judges returned with their final decision. They revealed that Culinary Monster was the chosen chef. As a result, Chef Son Jong-won was eliminated from Culinary Class Wars.

Additionally, judges noted that there wasn't much to criticize between the two dishes. Culinary Monster noted that he felt bad for Son Jong-won's elimination. But he had to give his all to advance further in the competition.

While leaving the competition, Son Jong-won noted that being able to participate was such a joy for him.
