Dexter: Resurrection is proving to be one of the best of the franchise. Dexter's new story started with his resurrection, as the title suggests, but fans did not expect this season to blow up. Oftentimes, franchises exhaust their storylines after a certain point in time. However, it does not seem to be the case with Dexter: Resurrection.

The show has earned an excellent 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 9.2 rating on IMDb. This says a lot about how viewers are responding to Dexter being resurrected and a new story being presented. Fans are especially hooked on the way the plot has turned against Dexter this time. He is facing challenges he has never had to deal with before.

One of the boldest and most exciting moves this season is Dexter’s entry into Prater's serial killer club. It’s something completely new to the franchise and has given the story a fresh perspective that no one saw coming. Almost every episode has been full of twists that changed everything around.

Be it Leon Prater’s museum, the grand party, Mia's true self and her subsequent death in prison, or the way the killers might now be circling around Dexter. With episode 8 right around the corner and only three more episodes to go, the suspense is sky-high.

And now, the success of this season is being shown with a record that has almost never been achieved before. It has only happened once in the past, but Dexter: Resurrection is doing even better.

Dexter: Resurrection makes history with IMDb streak

Back in 2009, during the days of the Trinity Killer, Dexter Season 4 scored a run of four consecutive episodes above 9 on IMDb. It was a golden time for the series. Fans still remember this peak moment. Now, according to Dexter Daily and IMDb, it has happened again. Only this time, the bar has been raised even higher.

Dexter: Resurrection has managed to pull off five consecutive episodes above a 9 on IMDb. Episode 1, A Beating Heart, started strong with an 8.9, followed by Camera Shy at 8.8. Then there's Backseat Driver scoring 9.3, Call Me Red scoring 9.7, Murder Honey at 9.2, and Cats and Mouse at 9.5. Even episode 8, Course Correction, is high at 9.6. This streak just proves how hooked people are on this season’s story.

And honestly, we get why. Every week, the show leaves fans with another mystery or reveal that makes us reconsider what we believe in or are expecting. Right now, Dexter’s identity is hanging by a thread. Mia’s death is still a mystery. Peter Dinklage’s role as Leon Prater continues to be shady as ever. On top of that, Uma Thurman’s character, Charley's true role, still feels unexposed.

With three episodes still left to air, the excitement only gets bigger. The ratings show that the audience is all in, and the storytelling proves why. Dexter: Resurrection is creating new history for the franchise. If the last few episodes can keep this level of brilliance, then this season might be the best Dexter has ever given us.
