Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard hints at a future project with the IT universe
In the interview with Esquire, Finn Wolfhard talked about how he feels about associating with Stranger Things — a series that has shaped his early years as well as the beginning of his career. The series began in 2016, so it is almost a decade-long association that he has had with the town of Hawkins.
So now, the actor is all geared up to expand his career with new projects. In the interview, he hinted about a particular future project. It was when the interviewer asked if Wolfhard knew that his character from the IT films, Richie Tozier's picture, would be seen in the IT: Welcome to Derry season 1 finale. This is what he says:
"I knew that years ago, actually. When they first started thinking about that show, it was probably 2021. Barbara and Andy Muschietti both told me, 'You’re involved.' Yeah, I’m connected. I think there’s something else that will come up eventually that I’m excited for people to see."
Although Finn Wolfhard did not share more details than this, he did mention that he is 'connected'. Which means that he is involved in an upcoming project related to the IT world. It could either be an extension of the world, in the form of a spinoff or a sequel. This statement of Wolfhard is rather ambiguous, and since there has not been any official confirmation regarding the project, we can only wait till we hear more.
Furthermore, the actor also shared about how it felt filming Stranger Things on its last day of shoot. He mentioned that it was an introspective as well as a retrospective experience, as it made him circle back to himself and his core artistic sensibilities. He says:
“It just really reminded me of why I got into acting in the first place and why I love making films."
Finn Wolfhard also talked about his sense of belongingness and closeness with the people associated with the series. As he expressed his love for Stranger Things, he added:
“I was lucky to be a part of a really tight-knit family that enjoyed making stuff together. It just reminded me that at the heart of this show, even though it’s like the biggest season yet, these are all the same people that I’ve always known, and this is why I love the show so much.”
