One of Gen V's pivotal characters is Jordan Li, played by not one but two actors (1 actress and one actor). Introduced as Professor Brinkerhoff's teaching assistant (TA), Jordan has a unique power that allows them to transform into female and male forms at will. This is why they identify themselves as bi-gender. They appeared in all eight episodes of the first season and the first six episodes of the second season.

Their and Marie's relationship is one of the most heart-warming parts of the series. The two start on a rocky foundation at the start of the first season; however, the fourth episode of Gen V Season 1 was a turning point in their relationship, and since then, the writers have found different layers to their characters. Over the course of two seasons, Jordan has grown into one of the Prime Video show's fan favorite characters.

As for their status, Jordan is still alive in the series.

Simply put, no. Jordan is very much alive in the acclaimed spin-off of The Boys. The closest they came to danger was in the fourth episode, as Marie and Jordan are pitted against each other in a cage match. In that staged fight, Dean Cipher puppets Jordan into attacking Marie, forcing her to use her powers on her romantic partner. Jordan experiences pain because of Marie's hemokinetic powers, but apart from that, they are fine.

As mentioned earlier, Jordan Li identifies as a bi-gender, making them one of the vulnerable minorities in The Boys Universe. They can change their gender presentation at will, and both forms have their own set of powers. For instance, Jordan's female form possesses super agility and the ability to shoot energy blasts. Conversely, their male form possesses super strength and super hearing.

This makes them one of the most powerful supes in Gen V. But despite that, they are still subjected to discrimination because of their undefined gender presentation.

While they are close to power, on account of Professor Brinkerhoff's favorites in season 1, Jordan is in a completely different position in Gen V Season 2 premiere. When offered a choice between rejoining Godolkin University and returning to Elmira, it looks like they would be fine with the second option, until Emma chooses to join the university.

Derek Luh addressed this moment in The Hollywood Reporter interview, published on September 25, 2025:

"When you get to such a low, such a depression, and you’ve lost everything — you’ve lost a friend, you’ve been locked up for however long — and you’re allowed to sit with the fact that everything you thought was right is completely a hoax and wrong, you get to this point where you’re like “Fuck it all. I don’t care. Send me back.” I’d feel better in Elmira than having to deal with this facade of a reality. That was where Jordan was: “I don’t want to deal with any of this. Look what happened when we fought back. It got us into Elmira. I went along with your guys’ plan, but I was better in the place when I just lied to myself.” Jordan is such a lover, but they have this shield up in defense to protect that soft, loving, loyal heart. So when they finally let [the shield] down, and they’re like, “I’ll go along with the gang,” look where it gets them. They’re in that spot again, and then finding out that Marie left them — your person leaves you, the person that you finally, truly allow yourself to be yourself with, and they finally see you — it’s another stab in the heart. So in the beginning, Jordan is at that place where they’re just like, “Fuck it all. I don’t care. I’m not doing anything you say. Put me back in Elmira. Torture me. Do whatever you need to do. There’s no worse pain than what I feel right now.”"

Jordan has come a long way since their Gen V Season 1 days, where they were mostly concerned with their career advancement at the cost of others. All of them are a long way from the season 1 days. It seems that Cate is feeling guilty over her actions in season 1 and The Boys Season 4 finale. Thus, it seems that Gen V Season 2 is seemingly building towards the moment when the gang probably joins Starlight for The Boys Season 5.

How does season 2 build towards The Boys Season 5?

One of the most surprising moments from the first season is that of Homelander flying into the Godolkin University campus to contain the riot caused by Cate and Sam. However, spins the narrative and declares Marie, Emma, Jordan, and Andre (the ones trying to stop the rioting) guilty. The first season was also building towards Dean Indira Shetty's revelation that she was working on a virus to kill all supes.

The same virus then came into play in The Boys Season 4, tying the two seasons together. Then, Gen V Season 2 begins sometime after The Boys Season 4 finale that saw Homelander round up his enemies (except for Billy Butcher and Starlight) and imprison them. Therefore, it is known that the season 2 finale would tie into The Boys Season 5, also its final season, when it streams on October 22, 2025.

Showrunner Michele Fazekas sat down for an interview with Variety on October 8, 2025, after the sixth episode streamed on Prime Video. The Variety reporter told Fazekas that Gen V feels indispensable for The Boys. To this, the showrunner responded:

"I’m not the person to ask about the next season of “The Boys,” because I really don’t know, but I doubt it. The way that I think of it and the way that Eric Kripke also thinks of it is, if you watch both shows, you will get the story on a different level than people who only watch one or the other. But we make sure you can still enjoy it and still understand the story having not seen one. Even if I’ve never seen “The Boys” before, the way they talk about Homelander, I get who Homelander is, whether or not I’ve seen. So will you get more out of watching this and then watching “The Boys”? Maybe, but it won’t be so entwined that it won’t be understandable."

Emma, Marie, Jordan, and Cate are sure to learn something shocking on the seventh episode of Gen V Season 2, when it streams tomorrow on Prime Video. Catch it as soon as you can.
