Just like the previous two seasons, Squid Game season 3 also had players who wanted to win the game without caring how dangerous the game gets. In the final season, one of those greedy players is Im Jeong-dae (Player 100), played by Song Young-chang.
We were introduced to Player 100 in season 2 when he first entered the game with the others. He also has the highest debt amount among all the contestants and always was in favor of continuing the game, which put him opposite to Gi-hun. Through betrayals and manipulations, Player 100 reached the final game in Squid Game Season 3, the Sky Squid Game, but could not win the game as he was killed by Player 333.
More on this in our story.
Does Player 100 die in Squid Game Season 3? Im Jeong-dae’s fate explored, in depth
Im Jeong-de had a debt of ₩10 billion, the highest among all the other players. Therefore, he always voted to continue the game, and whenever people faltered after a game, he and his minions would almost threaten them to vote to continue the game.
He is also among the players who voiced their doubts against Gi-hun’s claims of being a winner of the previous game. Jeong-de’s survival wasn’t easy from the beginning of Squid Game Season 3, but it did not make him humane or empathetic at the end. In the first game of Hide and Seek, Jeong-de used Player 044 to find the exit and left her behind by closing the door after exiting the game. She was later killed by Min-su, who was high on Thanos’s drugs.
However, Jeong-de and the other surviving players stooped to their lowest when they were ready to kill Player 222’s baby to win the game. In the last game of Squid Game Season 3, the Sky Squid Game, there were nine players left, and they had to kill at least one player in each of the three levels made of giant structures—a square, a triangle, and a circle—to win the game.
Their targets were Min-su, Gi-hun, and the baby. But due to Myung-gi’s (Player 333) manipulations, the first target became Min-su rather than Gi-hun and the baby. When they reached the second level, Myung-gi changed sides as he revealed that he is the father of the child. A fight ensues between the contestants, and Myung-gi and Gi-hun kill several of them, leaving Jeong-de and Player 039.
Joeng-de tries to convince and beg them not to kill him and suggests that they can use player 039 in the last level, and all of them can win at last. However, his pleas did not work on Myung-gi, and he pushed him to his death.
Player 100, or Im Jeang-de, had always put money over the players' lives, as we had seen him being disappointed several times by players surviving, and he also killed player 044 by leaving her inside the Hide and Seek game to reduce the number of players. He was one of the greediest players and lost his life to another character’s greed to win the game.
