For four long years, fans have eagerly waited for the return of Euphoria. The third season of the series is now only a few months away, as HBO has confirmed its release window as April 2026.

Audiences are excited to see what happens next with their favorite characters. It has already been confirmed that the season will begin with a time jump, and the characters will be adults and no longer in school.

Series creator and showrunner Sam Levinson has now teased what to expect from the upcoming season. During a content showcase in London, Levinson said that Euphoria Season 3 will feature higher stakes for the characters as they are finally out of school and have stepped into the real world:

“[The lead characters are] out of the safety net of school, figuring out who you are in the world. The stakes are a bit higher than they were in the past as the consequences are real.”

Sam Levinson talks about Euphoria Season 3

Euphoria started as a show following a group of teenagers at the fictional East Highland High School. The teens struggled with drug addiction, troubles in their love and sex lives, and dealt with loss and grief. The third season picks up five years after the second chapter, as the group deals with adulthood. During the event, Sam Levinson revealed that he takes inspiration from his own life while writing the show:

“I always think it is exciting to write this show because there are aspects I can draw from my own life.”

The series creator previously teased what the lead characters will be up to in Euphoria Season 3 in an interview with Variety. Levinson revealed that Rue would find herself in Mexico and under the debt of Laurie. She will have to figure out a way to pay the debt and return home.

On the other hand, Jules is trying to make a career as a painter, while Maddy and Lexi are working in Hollywood as a talent manager and a showrunner’s assistant, respectively.

Cassie and Nate are engaged and will soon get married. While they live in the suburbs, Cassie remains addicted to social media and her digital persona. Talking about why there is a time jump of five years between Seasons 2 and 3, Levinson said:

“Five years felt like a natural place because if they’d gone to college, they’d be out of college at that time.”

Euphoria Season 3 is going to bring back Zendaya as Ruby "Rue" Bennett, Hunter Schafer as Jules Vaughn, Sydney Sweeney as Cassandra "Cassie" Howard, Jacob Elordi as Nathaniel "Nate" Jacobs, Alexa Demie as Madeleine "Maddy" Perez, Maude Apatow as Alexis "Lexi" Howard, Martha Kelly as Laurie, and Chloe Cherry as Faye.

However, a number of actors are not returning to the show, including Barbie Ferreira as Katherine "Kat" Hernandez, Storm Reid as Georgia "Gia" Bennett, and Algee Smith as Christopher "Chris" McKay. Fez O'Neill will also not be seen in Season 3 due to Angus Cloud’s untimely death.

Euphoria Season 3 will premiere on HBO in April 2026.
