Netflix's latest culinary K-drama, Tastefully Yours, ticked all the right boxes and had a promising start.
Led by Squid Game Season 2 fame Kang Ha-neul and Youth of May fame Go Min-si, the K-drama follows a chaebol (conglomerate) of a five-star restaurant that falls in love with a simple-living chef, running her one-table restaurant.
Fans were enjoying Han Beom-woo and Mo Yeon-joo's romance and the chemistry cooking between them amid all the delicious flavours.
To make things spicier, actor Yoo Yeon-seok appeared in a cameo as Jeon-min, Yeon-joo's ex-boyfriend who worked with her in a French restaurant in Japan five years ago.
While Jeon-min's cameo appearance was initially supposed to aid the K-drama, his prolonged presence and the side story with Le Murir Sapporo's ailing head chef have derailed Tastefully Yours from the main couple's storyline.
While fans were excited about Yeon-seok's cameo, they are slamming the show for dragging the ex's plot for too long, as Twitter user @mikoo21 commented:
''Its a filler ep. They should just focus on the main plot for real. This ex plot was really unnecessary🙃''
Another user, @falllingbehind, even feels that the actor has no chemistry with Yeon-joo:
''The worst part of this is go minsi and yoo yeonsuk dont even have chemistry these scenes are just wasting everybodys time 😭''

Yoo Yeon-seok’s prolonged cameo in Tastefully Yours fails to impress fans
While K-drama fans usually react positively to old flames and second leads, Tastefully Yours has hit a different nerve with Yeon-seok's prolonged appearance.
While the actor is flawless in his appearance, the time invested in Jeon-min and Yeon-joo's backstory at Le Murir Sapporo has derailed her story with Beom-woo, and fans are disappointed.
Since Tastefully Yours will only release ten episodes, fans did not appreciate Yeon-seok's backstory plot being dragged for five episodes, as Twitter user @aetsitra commented:
''Also, if yeonsuk’s character is a cameo why is he still here… like bro is already in more than three episodes.''
Another Twitter user, @falllingbehind, echoed this sentiment and feels that the dragged cameo has taken the spotlight from the lead cast:
''I cant believe they sidelined the MAIN COUPLE for a storyline about her ugly ex that is completely unnecessary what a waste of their chemistry.''
''At this rate (after finished watching ep 6), kang haneul is just like 2nd male lead and third wheel, when he actually the ml. Tbh, I watched this drama because of haneul, yet the plot become terrible with the mess from fl's ex.'' user @cikroseee added.
The user also had a humorous take and believes that Yeon-seok's prolonged cameo should be mentioned as a supporting character in Tastefully Yours:
''They lied to us and said yoo yeonsuk's role is a cameo baby thats a SUPPORTING CHARACTER.''
Talking about humorous takes, Twitter user @suchi_edit referenced Yeon-seok's previous K-dramas and believed that Tastefully Yours didn't need the ex angle at all:
''Send him back to president's office or pediatric ward😭This character doesn't suit him😭...I still don't understand why they needed this third angle crap in this drama.''
In addition, fans also felt that Yeon-seok's character contributed nothing to the plot and unnecessarily dragged out the story. Now that his back story is finally resolved in the latest episodes, the K-drama can go back to focusing on the main couple in the remaining episodes.
