Short answer, yes, Ace did not want Amaya to call him "babe" on Love Island USA. The previous episode saw a recoupling ceremony where it was up to the men to choose a partner for themselves among the girls, along with the two bombshells that had entered the villa earlier. These were Hannah and Amaya.
Upon entering Love Island USA, Amaya explored all the possible connections. As for Ace, he had a brief conversation with her; however, he seemed to be more interested in Chelley, who also reciprocated his feelings. As for Austin, he was more interested in Amaya.
As fate would have it, Ace got a chance to pick his opponent before Austin could. With this choice, he chose to be with Amaya, leaving Chelley shocked. She had thought Ace would pick her, but that was not the case. Next, fans saw Austin picking up Chelley.
Now that the pairing was done, the next day at the Love Island USA villa, Amaya and Ace sat down to have a conversation. He began by asking her what she generally calls her partners.
Amaya, who initially thought it was a nice question, said that she would generally make up a cute little nickname for them and, if not, would call them "babe." Ace, reflecting on the same, said that he is not okay being called the latter.
Amaya, who thought it was playful at first, was visibly shocked at the seriousness on Ace's face. She claimed that this conversation was pissing her off because he had picked her up but is now acting distant and rude.
Later that night, Amaya, while talking with Ace, again accidentally called him "babe." He got upset once more, and she became emotional. She called Ace out for trying to showcase her as the crazy one, but Amaya claimed that she is not. She was upset that he was treating her like this.
Love Island USA - Ace kisses Chelley
The final blow came when Ace decided to chase Chelley and try to bond with her. Austin, Chelley's current partner, was not okay with it and pointed out multiple times that Ace had a chance to be with Chelley, but he chose not to.
He raised a valid question by asking why he is trying to be with her now and not focusing on his connection with Amaya.
However, Ace revealed that he had a trick up his sleeve. When Jeremiah had returned from his date with Huda on Love Island USA, he told the group that his strategy was to neglect Chelley because that would make her want him more. Austin was quick to defend his girl and said that she is not the "chasing type."
And true to his words, Chelley seemed to be hurt initially, but soon decided to leave Ace alone.
But then, in the most recent Love Island USA episode, Ace was seen trying to win her back through subtle moves and ultimately ended up kissing her. This made Amaya very angry, who blew off her steam on Chelley and accused her of trying to be sneaky.
