The fifth episode of this season, The Kids Are Not All Right, switches gears in terms of genre, as the storyline features characters escaping captivity. The episode begins with the aftermath of Jordan and Marie's fight as Dean Ciper interrupts Marie and Jordan's conversation in the locker room. He also reveals to them that Cate has been imprisoned in Elmira.
An empathetic Marie convinces Emma and Jordan to join her and rescue Cate from Elmira. However, it is revealed to be a trap, and the three are captured. Now, Cate, Marie, Jordan, and Emma have to quickly come up with a plan to escape their capture.

Gen V Season 2 finally hints at why Cipher is interested in Marie
The second episode reveals that Marie is the secret Project Odessa, and the very next one drops another bomb: Marie was delivered by "Dr. Gold", who is none other than Dean Cipher. Thus, he has had an eye on her ever since her birth, but we don't know why he is interested in Marie. This episode has a hint at the reason why he is interested in mentoring her.
Midway through the episode, Cipher takes Marie to another cell, where she learns that he has abducted and imprisoned her sister, Annabeth. He uses Annabeth's safety as leverage to make Marie work with her. However, the closing minutes throw a curveball at the viewers as Cate, Jordan, Emma, and Marie manage to escape their cells and make their way to Annabeth's cell, only to find her dead, with blood all over.
However, Marie soon heals Annabeth's wounds and resurrects her, undoing her death with great difficulty. This revelation hints that Cipher wants to use Marie as a way to heal him or the mysterious man in the hyperbaric chamber.
As of now, five episodes of this season are available to stream on Prime Video. Catch them on the Platform as the sixth episode releases next Wednesday.
