The first episode of Genie, Make a Wish sets the stage by showing how Genie, also known as Iblis, ends up trapped inside a magical lamp. When he’s finally freed, he offers Ka-young three wishes, assuming she’s just another human driven by greed. But the moment she reveals her first wish, Iblis begins to question everything he believed about humans.

Ka-young's first wish: Being a psychopath with the ability to control her dark urges, Ka-young finds it hard to believe that Iblis is a genie. After hearing him claim that all humans are greedy, she decides to make her first wish just to prove his point.

So, Ka-young's first wish in Genie, Make a Wish, is for Iblis to prove how far humans can go to fulfill their desires. A few days later, Ka-young gets worried about her grandmother, who has been complaining about being sick.

At the same time, Ka-young has been preparing to kill herself soon after she loses her grandmother. But in a turn of events, Ka-young reveals her second wish: She wants her grandmother to become young again, hoping that it would increase her life span.

Following Pan-geum's transformation, the entire town starts suspecting Ka-young of her grandmother's murder until a pre-recorded video call saves her. And as the K-drama nears its end, Ka-young makes her last wish.

Her third wish is deeply introspective: Ka-young desires to experience normal human emotions for a single day. This wish is not born out of selfishness but stems from a longing to understand human feelings, especially the pain of loss.

The consequences of Ka-young's third wish are both tragic and transformative. Iblis, bound by his pact with God, is compelled to kill Ka-young to fulfill the terms of their agreement. Yet, in a moment of profound love and defiance, Iblis bows before her, choosing to lose his deal with God rather than harm her.

This act of sacrifice leads to his own demise at the hands of his brother, Ejllael. This leaves Ka-young heartbroken, and she's unable to process emotions she’s never truly felt before.

Ka-young drifts aimlessly through the desert after her loss. The pain becomes too much to bear, and as she struggles against the unforgiving heat and loneliness, resulting in her strength fades away.

In the end, Ka-young dies alone in the sand. But years later, she's reincarnated. This time, as Jinniya. Thanks to Pan-geum, who kept pleading with God to reincarnate Iblis as well, so that he can reunite with Ka-young.
