Outlander: Blood of My Blood finally concluded its first season with an intense finale on Starz on October 10.
The final outing in the Outlander prequel series was filled with many shocking twists and turns, which ultimately reunited both Jamie and Claire's parents. While Brian and Ellen escaped from Castle Leoch, Henry managed to fetch Julia and William from Castle Leathers and reach Craigh Na Dun. Since Outlander: Blood of My Blood is already renewed for Season 2, the main couples' stories are far from over and they will return with new obstacles in the sophomore season.
In a recent interview with Elle magazine, Jeremy Irvine (Henry) has teased that Claire's parents have a difficult conversation ahead, about Henry's night with Seema. As seen in Outlander: Blood of My Blood Episode 6, a traumatized and hallucinating Henry ended up sleeping with a sex worker, mistaking her for Julia. While this was a terrible mistake on Claire's father's part, Henry has a lot of explaining to do in Season 2, as Irvine teased:
''He’s also done some things while mentally not well that he needs to explain to Julia...That’s the season 2 thing. That’s going to be fun for him.”
More on this in our story.
What happened with Julia and Henry in the Outlander: Blood of My Blood finale?
Julia and Henry finally reached the magical stones of Craigh Na Dun in the Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 finale, but the couple was met with a terrible realization. Like Roger and Brianna in the parent series, Claire's parents were uncertain about their son William being a time traveler. While Outlander has hinted that time travel is hereditary, Julia was simply not ready to risk their baby's future on a mere assumption and separation was the only option left for the couple.
While Julia and Henry stood at the literal crossroads of past and present at the Craigh Na Dun stones, time was running out as Arch Bug and his men were approaching Claire's parents. Julia was the one who finally decided to sacrifice and stay in the past, while her husband ensures that William is safely transported to their time. However, in the final moments of the Outlander: Blood of My Blood finale, Henry took Julia's hand and the three of them were about to touch the stones when the screen cuts to blank.
The freshman outing of the prequel series concluded on this nail-biting cliffhanger and uncertainty for Julia and Henry's future in Season 2.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood star teases Claire's parents' future in Season 2
While Jeremy Irvine was tight-lipped about Claire's parents' future in Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 in his recent interview with Elle magazine, Claire's father teased that the couple has a big issue to resolve. Fans might remember a brutal incident from Season 1 where Arch Bug orchestrated a big lie and forced Henry into believing that Julia and his baby had died. This drove the PTSD-suffering soldier to the edge and in his harrowing state of mind, he slept with Seema.
Talking to Elle, Irvine breaks down Henry's mental state during that time:
“What he really needs is mental health rehab...His therapy is Julia. And he hasn’t had that person. So if he can just get her back, then hopefully he can get his head together.''
While Henry's traumatized state of mind led him to Seema's bedchamber in Episode 6, he still loves Julia and will do anything for his family. Breaking down Henry's choice in the Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 finale, Irvine added:
“He’s a chivalrous man at heart. If he has to sacrifice himself to make sure his wife and his children are safe, then Henry’s that man that would do it in a heartbeat. And I think anyone who’s a parent will know that feeling.”
While Henry's night with Seema was a terrible mistake, it will naturally devastate Julia and the couple will likely experience a fallout from this incident. With that shocking Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1 finale, we don't know what's in store for Claire's parents in the second season, but Julia and Henry have a lot to catch up on, that is, if they remain united in the prequel series.
