Head Over Heels has slowly grown into one of those shows that hooks you in more with each episode. What started off as a quirky supernatural rom-com now feels like it’s building toward something deeper, and fans are definitely noticing.
Episodes 7 and 8 add more layers to the story, and things are starting to get a little more serious. There’s still plenty of humor and charm, but the emotional stakes are rising, especially for Gyeon-u and Seong-ah, who are clearly dealing with more than just romance.
What makes Head Over Heels so engaging is how it balances heart-fluttering moments with real emotional weight. It’s no longer just about a ghost and a human falling for each other. It’s about loss, healing, and the strange ways love lingers.

Head Over Heels Episode 7: Seongh-ah risks everything for Gyeon-u
Episode 7 picks up immediately with Seong-ah shaken by the fear that Gyeon-u may be possessed. Though he seems supportive at first, the truth becomes harder to ignore with Ji-ho involved. The tension rises as General Dongcheon and the Flower Master rush to help. It's revealed that Yeom Hwa’s final offering to the demon was Gyeon-u himself.
Determined to protect him, Seong-ah uses talismans to keep the demon at bay. The demon then proposes a chilling deal: whoever finds him first between Seong-ah and Yeom Hwa will have their wish granted. Without a second thought, Seong-ah agrees.
Elsewhere, General Dongcheon finds Yeom Hwa, who collapses after an emotional confrontation. Seong-ah sends Ji-ho home, but he unexpectedly runs into Gyeon-u. When she catches up, Seong-ah touches Gyeon-u’s hand and sees him return briefly to himself. That moment convinces her that his soul is still reachable.
Back home, the shamans try every trick to banish the demon from Gyeon-u. As a last attempt, they have him and Seong-ah spend the night in a sacred room together. Meanwhile, Yeom Hwa opens up to Dongcheon and the others, revealing her painful past.
The next morning, Gyeon-u disappears again and finds his way to school, mysteriously drawn to the archery coach. Seong-ah chases after him but narrowly misses him. A ritual to help Yeom Hwa is interrupted when Ji-ho bursts in, breaking Seong-ah’s hold over Gyeon-u. In the end, Gyeon-u signs up for an archery competition and confesses his love, trusting Seong-ah to protect him.

Head Over Heels Episode 8 recap: Gyeon-u starts seeing ghosts

Head Over Heels Episode 8 opens with a ritual on Yeom Hwa, revealing she once tried to bring her baby back to life. General Dongcheon stopped her, warning that clinging to the past traps the child’s soul. In the present, Yeom Hwa refuses to let go. Her dark energy continues to grow.
She admits to stirring chaos just to anger Dongcheon. Meanwhile, Gyeon-u and Ji-ho struggle with their feelings for Seong-ah. She finally tells Gyeon-u she likes him, only for Ji-ho to confess too. The three agree to pause romance until things are safe.
That night, Bong-su takes over Gyeon-u’s body again and warns Seong-ah to stay awake during the Hour of the Ox. Yeom Hwa shows up, tensions rise, and Great Aunt storms in. When Seong-ah is threatened, Gyeon-u almost attacks, but she calms him.
Gyeon-u and Seong-ah come up with a trick: his ringtone scares ghosts. It works briefly, giving them a small win. Back at school, he looks for the student memorial stones. But to his shock, they’re gone.
Yeom Hwa casts another spell to stay tied to Bong-su. This has strange effects. Gyeon-u starts feeling off. During a competition, something hits him: he can now see ghosts. The episode ends with that chilling twist in Head Over Heels.
