Fans of K-drama are currently hooked on Head Over Heels, thanks to its engaging story about the young shaman and student, and a cast that includes many of South Korea's most beloved actors. What's even more exciting for K-fans is the fact that the lead couple, played by Cho Yi-hyun and Choo Young-woo, is once again sharing screen space on this show after School 2021.

The two actors had previously starred together in School 2021, where they were part of the same group of friends, though they didn’t play each other’s love interest in that show. In this latest K-drama, however, Yi-hyun's Seong-ah is very much interested in Young-woo's Gyeon-u, and is carrying out a mission to save him.

Seong-ah is not just a student — she is also Fairy Cheonji, or a young and skilled shaman. She has had the power to see ghosts and help humans since birth. From the day Gyeon-u stepped into her shrine, Seong-ah knew that he was her first love and the one she must save within 21 days.

She tried hard to keep her shaman identity a secret, but thanks to Yeom-hwa's tendency to make things difficult for her, Gyeon-u finally learns the truth. However, he is still holding on to his trust in Seong-ah, possibly because he has developed feelings for her.

However, with Yeom-hwa continuing her dark rituals, the question remains: Can Seong-ah succeed in completing her mission? Keep reading to catch up with what happened in the episodes this week.

Head Over Heels Episode 5 kicks off with Gyeon-u discovering Seong-ah and Yeom-hwa mid-ritual in front of the haunted building. The sight leaves him stunned and hurt, as all of Seong-ah’s strange behavior in the past suddenly starts falling into place.

Even though she rushes after Gyeon-u to explain, he is too overwhelmed by the betrayal. When she finds him surrounded by wandering spirits, she tries to comfort him, but he simply can’t bring himself to believe her.

Meanwhile, General Dongcheon is anxious to know what unfolded during the ritual. The next day, Flower Master questions Seong-ah, and she casually mentions dancing with Yeom-hwa the night before. He reveals that Yeom-hwa sacrificed everyone present during the ritual as offerings to a dark spirit.

However, in sealing the evil in, they may have unknowingly caused more danger. Seong-ah finds herself isolated once again, especially with Gyeon-u now cold and distant. Their mutual friends, including Ji-ho, try to bring them back together, but nothing seems to work.

Seong-ah eventually confesses that she is a shaman, baring her vulnerability. However, even her heartfelt reveal fails to break through Gyeon-u’s wall. Despite the pain, she continues trying to protect him, especially from a ghost baby now attached to Ku Do-yeon.

The episode reaches its emotional peak as Gyeon-u begins to understand Seong-ah’s spells, and finally seeks comfort in her arms. However, tragedy strikes when a bookcase falls on them in the library, causing an accident.

With time running out, Seong-ah begs Do-yeon for the doll containing the ghost, while Ji-ho hears Gyeon-u make a heartbreaking promise to Choi Hui-na to stay unhappy forever. Ji-ho later becomes his human amulet in order to protect him.

Head Over Heels Episode 5 ends with Seong-ah helping the ghost baby reunite with his mother, only to find the moisturizer she gave Gyeon-u discarded in the trash. She starts crying outside his house until he comes out to offer her an umbrella.

In Episode 6 of Head Over Heels, Gyeon-u finds Seong-ah outside in the rain and brings her inside the house. He offers her tea to keep her warm. It is at this point that Seong-ah notices a set of pictures with drawings by a shaman.

She is shocked after looking at them, and he then reveals that the cursed photos were not meant for him but for his grandmother, Ok-soon. She explains that he has two options: He could burn the pictures or he could get the curse reversed by the one who cast it.

Gyeon-u pleads with her to let him keep the photos and doubts her honesty, especially regarding Yeom-hwa, but then Seong-ah assures him that she never knew Yeom-hwa before that night. Gyeon-u later visits Yeom-hwa in Head Over Heels Episode 6, to plead for his grandmother’s safety. However, she curses him instead, upon sensing that he is getting help.

Seong-ah performs a ritual to protect Ok-soon while Ji-ho, meanwhile, follows Gyeon-u and catches him meeting Yeom-hwa. Alarmed, he rushes to Seong-ah, who is already cleansing Gyeon-u’s house and confronting Yeom-hwa face-to-face.

The two shamans clash, and Seong-ah warns her that her power is fading. Gyeon-u overhears Yeom-hwa's true intentions and burns the photos himself, in the process breaking her control. Even though she walks away, her final words calling him "Newly Dead" upsets Seong-ah.

That night, Yeom-hwa, now cursed by Spirit Mother, removes the protective charms, speeding up the rise of an evil spirit. The next day, Seong-ah senses a ghost near Gyeon-u and rushes home to prepare a ritual. As her family helps fight the haunting, Gyeon-u watches a documentary on her painful childhood and starts to understand her.

However, it is when Kim Jin-woong enters the haunted building that the real terror begins. Gyeon-u, now fully possessed, follows Seong-ah inside and starts speaking in a sinister tone, hinting that the dark deity is only growing stronger.

So, will Seong-ah be able to save Gyeon-u in future? Make sure you watch the next week's episodes of Head Over Heels to know.
