Halloween is coming early for High Potential fans, and this one is dripping in haunted house fantasies. Season 2 Episode 6 (titled “Chasing Ghosts”) promises chills, laughs, and therapy that looks a lot like detective work. Airing Tuesday at 10 p.m. on ABC, this spooky hour will give us everything we love about the show: a mystery, Kaitlin Olson’s genius, and a Victorian mansion that may (or may not) be home to the supernatural!
The episode will open with a wealthy lawyer found dead in his "haunted" estate. There will then be flickering lights, creepy hallways, and ghostly whispers to make even the most rational investigator glance over their shoulder.
While we know Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) doesn’t scare easily, haunted mansions and unresolved family tensions are another story!
High Potential Season 2 Episode 6 preview: Morgan’s ghost hunt will meet a family meltdown
After Morgan’s blowout with Ava, things at home are somewhat like a thunderstorm. Ava’s teen angst meets Morgan’s overprotectiveness, and it’s sweet, ever-exasperated Elliot, who has to mediate.
Elliot encourages them both to try and put themselves in each other’s shoes. It’s the kind of subplot that makes High Potential more than just a procedural. We will see mess, love, second chances, and figuring out how to parent when your day job's KPIs are basically solving murders.
The stress at work doesn't help either. Captain Wagner, the least favored new captain, looks like he is ready for a redemption arc after showing some unexpected talents during this investigation. Even though fans don't trust him yet, this episode could change that.
High Potential Season 2 Episode 6 preview: This haunted mansion has some Scooby-Doo vibes
Honestly, Victorian mansions were built for Halloween episodes! The setting begs for jump scares and hidden staircases with its shadow-draped estate. So we believe that the episode might even lean into Scooby-Doo energy, with red herrings and maybe even a mask-pulling moment at the end?
The dead lawyer’s backstory is worth noting as well. We are told that he has been married twice; one wife is dead, and there are rumors that her spirit never left the mansion. Whether this turns out to be an actual haunting or a cover-up, the case looks tailor-made for Morgan and Karadec (Daniel Sunjata).
Also, this might be the show’s only Halloween-themed episode this season, given its October 22 air date, so expect the writers to milk every eerie moment!
Beyond the cobwebs and "ghosts," Chasing Ghosts is like a pivot. The hunt for Roman (Ava’s missing father) looms over Morgan’s decisions and clearly takes a toll on her relationships. Elliot’s growing role keeps things from splintering, but you can feel the suspense building toward something big.
If the photos and promo clips are any hint, Morgan and Ava’s storyline may finally reach a breakthrough. And knowing this show, a resolution will probably arrive right after a fake jump scare and a one-liner from Morgan!
