Your favorite genius with a High IQ is officially back in ABC's High Potential Season 2. Kaitlin Olson's freshman comedy series became the most-watched series on ABC in six years, confirming Morgan Gillroy's return for a sophomore adventure. Season 2 of the show premiered on ABC on September 16, 2025.
High Potential Season 2 will mark Morgan's return with the LAPD, where she will take up even more interesting cases. The Season 1 finale ended on two major cliffhangers, where Morgan's family was threatened by the Game Maker and she learned that her husband Roman was still alive.

Season 2 has also added Shameless star Steve Howey to its cast, who will play the character of Jesse Wagner, the precinct's new captain.

The show became the most-watched new series on ABC in six years, paving the way for High Potential Season 2. Additionally, the show's success guaranteed an increased number of episodes in the sophomore season, which will include a total of 18 episodes (as opposed to 13 in Season 1).
The confirmed release schedule for High Potential Season 2 is as follows:
ABC has not updated the complete release schedule for Season 2 yet. However, like last season, new episodes will be released every Tuesday on ABC at 10:00 p.m. ET. You can also stream new episodes on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ the following day.
What can you expect from High Potential Season 2?
The increased episode count for High Potential Season 2 suggests that the ABC show will continue to explore a procedural case-of-the-week, while also leaving plenty of room for deeper and personal mysteries like Roman's disappearance. In an interview with Deadline, Olson revealed that she wants the show to continue having dramatic stuff, but she also wants Morgan to explore personal relationships, especially with her children. Additionally, the actress hinted that the sophomore season will have an added emphasis on other characters, too.
The Game Maker and his twisted games will continue to threaten the LAPD and Morgan's family. When a string of crimes are uncovered in Episodes 1 and 2, the LAPD will have a difficult choice: whether to follow Morgan's instincts or take action according to their protocol.
One thing is for certain! Season 2 will not unnecessarily drag both of its cliffhangers for views. In an interview with The Wrap, showrunner Todd Harthan assured his viewers that they have a 'pretty healthy plan' for Season 2, and both of these mysteries will not overstay their welcome. This suggests that the show is shifting gears and breaking away from toxic procedural formulas, which stretches storylines for some cheap views. Harthan's comments suggest that Morgan will uncover the truth about her missing husband and the Game Maker's master plan soon.
Tune into High Potential Season 2 on ABC every Tuesday.
