Amazon Prime Video's biblical historical drama series House of David Season 2 premiered with its first two episodes on October 5 (for Wonder Project subscribers). Following positive reviews and attracting 22 million viewers in its first 17 days, the show was quickly renewed for a sophomore season, which has finally graced our screens. Set in 1000 BC in Israel, House of David follows the titular boy's journey from being a shepherd to the next king of Israel after Saul, appointed by the prophet Samuel.

The first two episodes in House of David Season 2 foreshadow King Saul's fall after he dishonours Samuel and welcomes David as his son-in-law. After Samuel rejects him as his King, Saul has him taken by his men. He is fearful about the prophet's prediction about the fall of the House of Saul, but the premiere makes it clear: what's written shall prevail at any cost.

Here is the complete House of David Season 2 Episode 1 and 2 recap.

House of David Season 2 Episode 1 overview: David proves himself on the battlefield

House of David Season 2 opened on the battlefield, where the Israelite and Philistine armies are charging against each other. As David takes Goliath's sword after slaying him, a voice-over by Mychal tells us about the importance of Goliath's sword and how the warriors who wield it would become the masters of the coming age, the Age of Iron.

King Achish sees David on the battlefield and charges his army to attack him. However, Jonathan sees this and quickly recognizes David's inexperienced fighting style and runs to protect him from the Philistine army. They take shelter behind Goliath's large shield and Jonathan asks Eliab to take David to safety. However, David continues striking with his sling on the battlefield and King Ashdod's death forces the Philistine army to retreat.

Elsewhere, Jonathan is brutally struck with an arrow and struggles to help Saul in his fight against Achish. Just when it looks like King Achsish will have the upper hand, David aims at the King with his slingshot. While Jonathan is presented with an opportunity to kill Achish, he restrains himself due to David's words.

David is later hailed as the giant-slayer and is given a red cloak by Saul for his bravery in House of David Season 2. Both Jonathan and Saul welcome him into his house as Nathaniel takes his final breath in Eliab's arms, after being injured on the field.

House of David Season 2 Episode 2 opens with an ominous montage

After David's victory in the House of David Season 2 premiere, Episode 2 opens with an ominous voice-over by future Mychal, who tells us that the House of Saul was not defeated by enemies but was overthrown from within, by someone he trusted and she loved deeply.

This is followed by a flash forward where David is summoned into Saul's throne room. While the shepherd is visibly scared, he enters the room where Saul is standing with his spear and sword. As Saul accuses David of betraying him, the latter insists on his loyalty. When Saul questions David if Samuel has chosen him, David asserts that God has chosen him. This proclamation is followed by Saul's attack and the scene cuts to the present.

House of David Season 2 Episode 2 overview: Saul's decision shocks Mychal

House of David Season 2 Episode 2 opens with King Saul's procession entering Gibeah after their victory over the Philistines. As Ahinoam watches from afar, Saul welcomes David into his House and promises to give him one of his daughters and the charge of a thousand men. Mychal is overjoyed by this news, unaware of what's to come.

As King Saul enters his house, he is elated to see his family and is also reunited with his exiled son, Eshball. Mychal finds a quiet moment with David and he calls his role on the battlefield a miracle. The couple is interrupted by Jonathan, who relays the news of Nathaniel's tragic death to his brother.

Elsewhere, Ahinoam is not happy with Saul's decision to bequeath one of their daughters to David. She fears that the decision is made too quickly and that they should wait for the boy to prove his worth a bit more. However, Saul asserts that questioning David means questioning his belief and assures her that David is the right choice for their daughter.

King Saul also catches up with Mirab in House of David Season 2 Episode 2, who complains that she has been unable to sleep ever since he broke off her marriage with Jordan. While she was not in love with him, the idea of having a loving man and a stable home enticed her, but she would continue to serve her father's Kingdom. The final moments of Episode 2 saw King Saul officially welcoming David as his son-in-law and commander in the throne room. However, to Mychal's horror, he offers Mirab's hand in marriage to him, changing the couple's fate forever.
