How are Peacemaker Season 2 and Superman connected? Frank Grillo gives an answer

Two weeks ago, on August 22, 2025, Peacemaker Season 2 actors Jennifer Holland and Frank Grillo were interviewed by Fortress of Solitude. In that interview, the stars spoke extensively about the ongoing season of Peacemaker and its place in the wider DCU. It should be noted that the second season takes place in a linear way, i.e., the way in which the DCU projects were released.

This means that the DCU canon starts with 2021's The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker Season 1 (except for the Justice League cameo), Creature Commandos, Superman, and Peacemaker Season 2. Furthermore, Grillo almost teased cameos from Superman but restrained himself from revealing the characters.

What did Peacemaker Season 2 actor Frank Grillo say?

As mentioned earlier, the actors discussed the second season and what to expect from it. Considering that both Superman and Peacemaker Season 2 are a part of the same universe, the two were asked where the Man of Steel is during the events of the second season. Emilia Harcourt, played by actress Jennifer Holland, was the first one to answer. Her exact words to the Fortress of Solitude reporter were:

"I think that the first thing you have to let go of when you’re watching superhero films that have a wider connective tissue is: Why didn’t they just call this person? Why didn’t they just call that person? You have to accept that everybody’s busy doing their own thing, and that each individual group of ‘superheroes,’ or the factions that exist like A.R.G.U.S, have their own missions that they have to attend to. It’s kind of the same way that the CIA doesn’t always call the FBI. They have their own divisions that they work on. That’s just my opinion. We can’t always pay for the people to do their cameos, and that’s just the way it is."

Rick Flag Sr. actor Frank Grillo, on the other hand, teetered on the edge of revealing a cameo from the wider DCU. He first teases a strained relationship with the DCU Man of Steel. Then, he went on to talk after realizing that the reporter had seen just the first five episodes of Peacemaker Season 2, Grillo refrained from talking any further:

"I do think there’s certainly bad blood between Rick Flag and Superman. But I also agree they’re not always available to show up when they’re needed. But saying that … I don’t think you’ve seen more than five episodes? So, we can’t really say anything."

We already know that one Superman character is in season 2:

DC released a promo featuring footage from a future episode in which Rick Flag Sr. is visiting Belle Reve Prison to meet a mysterious inmate. Many believe that Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, is in the second season. But a lot of fans are missing Sydney Happersen, who has been confirmed to appear in this season of Peacemaker in the red band trailer. Thus, we already know one cameo from Superman.
