After a long stint with Netflix, The Good Place has left the platform. The hit fantasy comedy series originally aired on NBC between 2016 and 2020. It tells the story of Eleanor Shellstrop, a not-so-nice woman who is accidentally sent to a heaven-like place after her death despite her bad deeds, where she feels out of place.
The show earned a massive following for its humorous take on moral themes, and the viewership only increased when it started streaming on Netflix. However, the series was removed from the streamer’s catalog on September 25, 2025.

The Good Place is streaming on Prime Video after leaving Netflix
The Good Place was removed from Netflix on September 25, 2025, and began streaming on Prime Video the very next day, September 26, 2025. Hence, you will now need a Prime Video subscription to watch the series instead of a Netflix subscription.
The Amazon-owned streamer offers an ad-supported plan at $8.99 per month. Viewers need to pay $2.99 extra per month to avail ad-free services. Prime Video can also be subscribed to through an Amazon Prime membership, which costs $14.99 per month and offers additional benefits like free delivery on shopping and Prime Music.
Why did The Good Place leave Netflix?
The Good Place is not a Netflix original, and its rights lie with NBC. Streaming platforms obtain a license from networks to add various shows to their catalog. As the show’s license on Netflix expired on September 25, and the streamer did not renew it, the show was removed from its library. On the other hand, Prime Video seems to have obtained the license to stream the show from September 26, 2025, onwards.
The comedy originally became available on Netflix in September 2017, a year after its television premiere. New seasons were then added pretty quickly, with every episode being dropped on the platform a day after its television premiere. The show concluded its run in 2020 after four seasons.
Starring Kristen Bell in the lead, the series is set in a heaven-like place created by architect Michael. People who do good deeds are brought to the place, but Eleanor ends up there due to a glitch, despite her questionable actions on Earth.
Eleanor then tries to fit in and attempts to hide her secret from the citizens of the place. Meanwhile, she also tries to learn moral and ethical values from her ‘soumate’ Chidi. However, as the series progresses, she realizes that there may be more to the place than what meets the eye.
