Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is set to introduce a fan-favorite character who will change Percy forever. In the first teaser trailer, we meet Tyson, played by actor Daniel Diemer. For those who don't know, Tyson is Percy's cyclops half-brother, as his father is none other than Poseidon. We meet the naive one-eyed Tyson for the first time in The Sea of Monsters; thus, the series is just following the book.

Considering Tyson is a Cyclops, he is looked upon throughout the entirety of the Greek mythological world of the Percy Jackson Universe. Except for Percy and Charles Beckendorf, everyone in Camp Half-Blood looks at Tyson with suspicion because he is a cyclops. But Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 will introduce a new dynamic between the half-brothers that was absent in the books.

Walker Scobell teased that Percy will play a guardian to his newly discovered half-brother in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 in a May 2025 interview.

Scobell teases a parental role for Percy in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2:

As mentioned before, we meet Tyson for the first time in The Sea of Monsters, the book that Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is adapting. He is introduced as Percy's best friend in the latter's mortal school, Meriwether College Prep. It is revealed that Tyson is a poor and homeless boy who is admitted into the school as part of the outreach program.

But when he saves Percy from a deadly attack from the monsters, the latter realizes that Tyson is a cyclops, meaning he has one eye. When Poseidon claims Tyson first, Percy feels a bit embarrassed. But he begins to see him as a brother after the Charybdis incident. But in a May 2025 interview with ScreenRant, Walker Scobell teased an additional layer in season 2, something that wasn't present in the book.

When Liam Crowley asked Scobell if Percy had his mother Sally's maternal instincts and if he would use them for taking care of Tyson, the actor responded:

"I think definitely. I think from the very beginning, basically the first scene, you see Sally treating Tyson the same way that you kind see her treating Percy in the first season. When we get to Camp Half-Blood, things are weird because I have to be [Tyson's] mom, I guess, or his big brother to take care of him. I'm his guardian, and so I have to take care of him, and so I have to get that through my head. I treat him a little differently at the start."

It needs to be noted that as of now, we don't know who is younger between the two. But, even if Tyson is older than Percy, it needs to be said that humans and cyclopses can have different levels of intelligence, considering that they are different species. In the same interview, we also learned that one of the main characters, i.e., Grover, will not share the screen with Percy, Tyson, and Annabeth.

Aryan Simhadri's Grover will be separated from the heroes in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2:

In the second book, Grover is the cyclops Polyphemus' hostage until the very end. It is to rescue that Annabeth, Tyson, and Percy leave Camp Half-Blood by heading to the Sea of Monsters. Revealing that being a hostage to the cyclops will force Grover to step up, Aryan Simhadri said:

"That's a fantastic question. I think the most development happened, oddly enough, when I was alone. Also, just personally, I was genuinely just alone in there. My filming schedule was different from everybody. He's forced to take care of himself, and he's in a situation that's so personal to him. It's like seeing Uncle Ferdinand in Medusa's cave, but just 10 times worse, and so he's forced to step up and take this leadership role that he's not really used to as a protector. It was an interesting new dynamic."

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 releases on December 10, 2025.
