"Can't wait for viewers to see her incredible work": Rick Riordan teases a bigger role for this character in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is just approximately five months away from its release date. As that happens, the marketing for the second season is slowly building up. As of now, we don't have a release date for Percy Jackson Season 2. But we do know that it is expected to be released this December, much like the first season.

One of these hypes for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 came five months ago from the author, Rick Riordan. Revealing that actress Dior Goodjohn's Clarisse La Rue will have a larger role to play in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2. During a Goodreads Q&A, a fan asked Riordan was looking forward to in the second season and which shows he would recommend. The author's response read:

"I'm looking forward to everything about PJO season two! I've seen early cuts of the first two episodes now (without any post-production effects yet) and they are already amazing. One thing I really appreciate about season two is Clarisse LaRue being more of a major character, just as she is in the Sea of Monsters book. Dior Goodjohn has definitely brought her 'A game' to this season -- I can't wait for viewers to see her incredible work! Other TV shows we've been enjoying: Somebody Somewhere on Max, Skeleton Crew on Disney+, Brilliant Minds on Peacock, Shrinking on Apple -- just off the top of my head."

Explaining Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2:

It seems that Percy Jackson Season 2 is being faithful to the second book. We know that Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is adapting The Sea of Monsters, the second book in the series. While Clarisse is introduced in the first book, it is in the second book, her character is fleshed out. The Sea of Monsters gave a new dimension to Clarisse, who was just a bully.

Furthermore, in this book, it is Clarisse who is given an official quest to retrieve the mythical golden fleece to cure Thalia's poisoned tree that magically protects Camp Half-Blood from monsters. However, as stated above, the tree is poisoned, meaning the magical protection is waning, making the camp vulnerable to attacks from monsters.

It is in this book that we learn that despite her bullish nature and hate for Percy, Clarisse has a soft side and deeply cares about the camp. Furthermore, there is even a dark moment in the book where Percy witnesses her father, Ares, threaten her, making the readers and Percy sympathize with her for a bit.

Thus, it looks like Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 will provide actress Dior Goodjohn plenty of opportunities to bring out the complexities of her character.

What will Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 be about?

The second season is an adaptation of the second book, The Sea of Monsters, which was published in 2006. In this book, the camp is vulnerable and constantly under attack from the monsters because Thalia's tree, the magical tree that protects it, is poisoned. Clarisse is given the quest to retrieve the mythical golden fleece to cure it.

Simultaneously, Percy, his recently discovered half-brother Tyson (they share the same father), and Annabeth sneak out of the camp to save Grover. However, despite having different mission, Percy and Clarisse's missions converge in an unexpected way.

"When Thalia’s tree is mysteriously poisoned, the magical borders of Camp Half-Blood begin to fail. Now Percy and his friends have just days to find the only magic item powerful to save the camp before it is overrun by monsters. The catch: they must sail into the Sea of Monsters to find it. Along the way, Percy must stage a daring rescue operation to save his old friend Grover, and he learns a terrible secret about his own family, which makes him question whether being the son of Poseidon is an honor or a curse."
