Dexter: Resurrection is seven episodes in as of this week. The sixth episode, "Cats and Mouse", saw the death of Prudence Kamara, Blessing Kamara's mother. The main focus of the episode mostly follows her funeral, but it ends on a twist regarding the Gemini Killer that no one saw coming. However, one of the episode's highlights comes from Blessing, as played by actor Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine.

But now a new fan theory is suggesting a sinister side of Blessing, who brings up his dark past. It is revealed that in Sierra Leone, Blessing was a child soldier for the Revolutionary United Front (RUF). But Prudence managed to find Blessing, and they immigrated to the US. Now, Blessing mourns his mother, who served as his anchor and encouraged him to do better and lead an honest life.

However, the fan theory suggests that Dexter: Resurrection's Blessing might be the elusive serial killer, New York Ripper.

Dexter: Resurrection's dark Blessing theory explained:

As mentioned before, Dexter: Resurrection Episode 6 reveals that Blessing reveals his past as a RUF child soldier. It is clear until the fifth episode that Blessing looked up to Prudence as his north star, who anchored him to some semblance of morality. Now, the theory posits that, much like Al/Rapunzel and Dexter in the original series, Blessing leads a double life.

The concept of a serial killer being a loving family man is nothing new for the series. In the original series, the Trinity Killer is famously a loving family man who lets his dark urges out on random people every now and then. Blessing could be something similar, according to this fan theory. Plus, Blessing is too nice, and this is why some suspect him of being the killer.

The Cat figurines seen in the funeral might be trophies according to the theory:

Dexter: Resurrection Episode 4, "Call Me Red", revealed that Leon Prator has the Ripper's weapon, but not his trophies. That's because, according to this theory, Blessing never took trophies like Dexter or Rapunzel, at least not from his victims' bodies. The Ripper/Blessing's trophy is something different altogether.

At Prudence's funeral, it is revealed that she was a fan of animals and had countless cat figurines. According to the theory, every cat symbolized the victim he killed. This is why Blessing did not touch the cat figurine, because it symbolizes his victims. These cats were an apology from him to his mother for failing to live up to her teachings.

It should also be noted that we hear the New York Ripper's voice in the seventh episode of Resurrection, "Course Correction". While the voice played doesn't have an accent, Blessing does. However, AI voices can be used to send messages with just a prompt. Thus, it could be possible that Blessing can send a message to his victims' families using AI, without being worried about people figuring out his ethnicity.

What do you think about this Dexter: Resurrection fan theory? Who, according to you, is the New York Ripper? As of now, seven episodes of the series are available on streaming.
