Landman Season 2 has premiered on Paramount+, bringing back Billy Bob Thornton as the fan-favorite Tommy Norris. The show has proven to be a massive success, the credit for which partly goes to Billy’s stellar performance.

The series tells the story of the workers and management of an oil company in West Texas, exploring how their work affects not only the economics of the country but also the climate and politics of the world.

Now that Billy Bob Thornton has once again stepped into the shoes of Tommy Norris for Landman Season 2, we have come across an earlier interview of the actor, where he expressed how he wants to continue playing the character for a while. In a conversation with Gold Derby in May 2025, Billy said:

“[It] is a show I'd like to work on for a while. I told Taylor, I said as long as you want me around, I'm here for this. I really love the show. I love doing it, I love playing this character, and I love the people I work with. Not only the cast, but the crew also is just stellar.”

Billy Bob Thornton once expressed his wish to play Tommy Norris in Landman for years

During the interview, Billy Bob Thornton added that he would want to star in Landman for as long as he physically can. Highlighting how he is willing to push boundaries for the role even at the age of 70, the actor stated:

“I'll be there as long as they want me, and as long as I'm able. I mean, you know, when I was 35, I didn't have to say that to someone who was interviewing me. But now the truth is at some point, I'm hoping it's years from now, but there will be a time where I might have to do like a Peter Boyle on Everybody Loves Raymond, and just go sit in a chair and eat cake.”

Bobby’s wish might get fulfilled as Landman does seem to have a bright future and may run for years. Within a year of its release, the show has become one of the most-talked-about programs on television. Also, the creator, Taylor Sheridan, has an impressive track record, as his earlier project, Yellowstone, became a phenomenon and aired for five seasons.

Landman might be heading the same way, and Billy is all geared up to be a part of the show for a long time. The series revolves around M-Tex, an oil company operating in West Texas. The roughnecks and billionaires of the corporation face some tough challenges in running the company, especially due to threats by the cartel.

At the end of the first season, Tommy became the head of the company after the death of the previous president, Monty Miller. In the second season, he tries to keep the company afloat while facing some new and unexpected enemies.

Apart from Billy, the show stars Ali Larter as Angela Norris, Demi Moore as Cami Miller, Michelle Randolph as Ainsley Norris, Jacob Lofland as Cooper Norris, Sam Elliott as T.L. Norris, Andy Garcia as Gallino, Mark Collie as Sheriff Walt Joeberg, Kayla Wallace as Rebecca Falcone, and Paulina Chavez as Ariana Medina.
