What happened in I Love You Since 1892 Episode 1: A quick recap

The first episode of I Love You Since 1892 begins on a tragic note: Carmeita from 1892 is holding a book and crying near the riverside. As the sun goes down, she opens her book and writes:

"7th of March, 1892. Juanito, my love. This should not have happened. Just wait... We will see each other again. Our love... will be rewritten on the day of the fourth chance."

Soon after she completes this, Carmelita drowns herself in the river. The episode then moves to the present, where Carmela, a business management student, finds herself in the student counseling room after she and her ex-best friend had a clash.

The girls aren't close anymore, and Carmela wants to prove that she doesn't care if Shae makes new friends. The episode also introduces Carmela's family: her two sisters and father. She lost her mother at the age of eight, when her youngest sister was born.

While Carmela's father loves his daughters deeply, he has high expectations for his eldest daughter. Later, the family goes to Carmela's grandmother's house to stay. Later at night, her grandmother takes Carmela to a room and unveils the portrait of Carmelita.

The young woman is amazed to see that her ancestor looks exactly like her. When Carmela asks her grandmother to let her father and sisters also see the picture, the old lady brushes off her wish.

The episode also features flashbacks to when Carmelita was alive and wrote her book. She loved the man dearly, but her love story had a tragic end.
