Andy Garcia made a guest appearance in the Landman Season 1 finale as the cartel boss Gallino. His intimidating personality piqued the audience’s interest, and now he has made his full-fledged appearance in the show in Season 2.
Gallino has already stirred up trouble. His arrival has not only impacted Tommy, but he has also had a great influence on his son, Cooper. Gallino certainly looks like a formidable villain, which has left us wondering how long he will continue to cause problems for Tommy.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Andy Garcia answered the question. The actor revealed that he is ready for a long run in the show, just like the lead, Billy Bob Thornton. However, the decision to write him off lies with Landman creator Taylor Sheridan. Garcia said:
“He [Gallino] won’t go down easy. But as they say, the pen is mightier than the sword. So the moment Taylor stops writing for Gallino, he’ll go down! But I’m in for the long haul. I’m with Billy. I’m good for five or 10 years.”
Andy Garcia talks about his future in Landman
Andy Garcia added that working on Landman has been a great experience so far. He credited the writers, actors, and directors for the show’s success. Garcia also cited them as one of the reasons why he would love to be on the project for five to ten years and said:
“It’s a great place to be. It’s a great show with great writing, actors, directors, just a phenomenal workspace to be working with the top cats in the business.”
While Garcia is open to a long-term association with Landman, his time on the Paramount+ series will depend on the storyline. The writers will ultimately decide how long they want Gallino to appear on the show.
During the interview, Garcia also talked about what could happen in the upcoming episodes of the second season. Without giving out any spoilers, the actors said that multiple surprises are awaiting the audience:
“It would be disrespectful to the surprises that await. I think it’s better to leave it unspoken for, but, like you said, there’s a little twinkle to what it could possibly be at the end of this episode. In the first season, there is an exchange between Billy and I in that [finale] scene where I say, ‘We need to be friends. We need to coexist.’”
He added:
“That’s Taylor putting a curve ball in, where you think it’s going to go in a certain direction, but he’s setting it up to newer and different dynamics.”
Andy Garcia is not the only acclaimed actor who is up for a long run on Landman. Billy Bob Thornton, who plays the lead Tommy Norris, has echoed similar thoughts in another interview.
Apart from the two power performers, Landman stars Michelle Randolph as Ainsley Norris, Ali Larter as Angela Norris, Demi Moore as Cami Miller, Kayla Wallace as Rebecca Falcone, James Jordan as Dale Bradley, Paulina Chavez as Ariana Medina, and Jacob Lofland as Cooper Norris.
Landman Season 2 airs new episodes on Paramount+ on Sundays.
