Big Brother returned for its 27th season on July 10, 2025, kicking off a new summer of strategy, alliances, twists, and drama. The CBS reality competition series, hosted by Julie Chen Moonves, introduced 16 new houseguests. It also promised a mysterious 17th competitor, teased in the days leading up to the premiere.

As always, Big Brother fans tuned in for the live two-hour broadcast. They quickly took to social media to share their thoughts, reactions, and predictions about the new cast and unexpected developments. Season 27’s theme, “Summer of Mystery,” introduced viewers to the Hotel Mystère, a creatively designed house where secrets hide in every corner.

With returning host Julie Chen Moonves overseeing the action, the game is once again centered around evictions, Head of Household competitions, and strategic manipulation. All of it leads to one houseguest winning a $750,000 grand prize. Fans on X (formerly Twitter) had plenty to say.

One user summed up their excitement with a post reading:

“How I’m feeling on #BigBrother premier day!!! My favorite show is back and I’m ready to be locked in for the next 3 months. Let’s gooo! #BB27.”

Another chimed in, asking,

“Who’s everyone’s money on this season?! #BB27 #BigBrother #bigbrother27 #cbs.”

The reactions covered everything from nostalgia to early player impressions. One fan noted.

“rewatching bb13.. she was so robbed.. cassi needs a second chance. #bb27 #bigbrother.”
“Joseph Abdin is still the finest and kindest male player to play #BigBrother. #BB27 @JosephAbdin,”

another fan posted.

Another user highlighted one contestant, writing,

“jimmy seeing rachel every morning #BB27 #BigBrother don’t get it twisted, she will drag him lol.”

On the topic of superfans, one fan tweeted,

“Nobody cares about yall being superfans. Thats why you are on the show and applied for the show #BB27 #BigBrother.”
“first ever official season of #bigbrother as an irish person used to the uk version… i am so ready #BB27,”

an international fan also joined in. Some longtime viewers expressed nostalgia, with one writing,

“Ok call me old fashioned… but I like when the houseguests drank champagne and introduced themselves in the beginning of the first episode. #BB27 #BigBrother.”

And for fans embracing the chaos of the premiere’s theme, one comment read:

“Big Brother is so camp because what do you mean i’m watching people fall through a hatch in the floor in order to discover the identity of a masked vigilante and find Julie? #BB27 #BigBrother.”

What happened in the Big Brother season 27 premiere

The Big Brother Season 27 premiere aired on July 10, 2025, and opened with 16 houseguests moving into the newly designed Hotel Mystère.

The contestants are:

  • Adrian Rocha
  • Amy Bingham
  • Ashley Hollis
  • Ava Pearl
  • Cliffton “Will” Williams
  • Isaiah “Zae” Frederich
  • Jimmy Heagerty
  • Katherine Woodman
  • Keanu Soto
  • Kelley Jorgensen
  • Lauren Domingue
  • Mickey Lee
  • Morgan Pope
  • Rylie Jeffries
  • Vince Panaro
  • Zach Cornell

Julie Chen Moonves welcomed viewers in front of a live audience, setting the stage for the “Summer of Mystery” theme. Each contestant was introduced with individual packages before entering the house in two waves.

Once inside, houseguests noticed a countdown clock and began exploring. Keanu discovered a hidden room, Amy made an early impression with her talkativeness, and alliances quietly started forming.

After the second group entered, Julie reappeared via phone to explain the first major twist. She divided the houseguests into two teams: one would search for her, while the other searched for the missing Head of Household (HOH) relic. Zach found Julie, while Jimmy located the HOH relic, earning a significant game advantage.

Zach won $10,000, while Jimmy was tasked with selecting four houseguests — including himself — to compete for the actual HOH title. He chose Adrian, Ashley, Vince, and himself. In the balancing challenge, Vince managed to steady all six “cores” and secured the first HOH title of Big Brother Season 27.

However, this season comes with more twists. Julie announced that Vince would have to nominate three houseguests for eviction due to the newly renamed “BB Blockbuster,” formerly known as the AI Arena. Before Vince could get comfortable in power, the Mastermind — a red figure who had taken Julie earlier — announced another surprise.

The Mastermind introduced the 17th houseguest: Big Brother legend Rachel Reilly, a winner of Season 13. Reilly’s presence shocked the house, especially among superfans like Jimmy. She confirmed that she was playing the game, but the twist didn’t end there.

Julie revealed that Rachel is actually the 16th houseguest, not the 17th. Instead, one of the current contestants is secretly the “Accomplice,” working for the Mastermind.

If the others identify the Accomplice correctly, that player goes home immediately. If they don’t, the Accomplice officially joins the game, further complicating the competition. The hunt for the Accomplice will unfold on Big Brother’s next episode airing Sunday night.

Big Brother airs Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays on CBS, with episodes also available to stream on Paramount+.
