Stranger Things has finally ended with the release of its final episode on New Year's Eve, 2025.

The finale was emotional, but also depicted hopeful new beginnings for all of its main characters, and even raised hopes of Eleven's survival with Mike's story, but it is not confirmed whether she survived or not.

Unlike many shows nowadays, Stranger Things opted for a mostly happy ending without killing any of its main characters apart from Eleven, who sacrificed herself to protect her friends and stop Dr. Kay from creating more kids like her.

However, there is another Netflix series, Sweet Home, which is almost similar to the Millie Bobby Brown starrer series due to being based on a teenage character with special abilities, but also takes its story to another level and maintains the dark and dangerous vibe of survival shows.

More on this in our story.

Like Stranger Things, K-drama Sweet Home narrates a gripping tale of a teenager

Stranger Things narrates the story of how a group of teenagers fight the dangerous creatures called demogorgons and also later Vecna and try to get rid of the Upside Down, with the help of Eleven's telekinetic powers. They all got involved when they met Eleven in Season 1 and, across 5 Seasons, became a family that protects each other.

The story began with Eleven and ended with her sacrifice, saving all of her friends who made her a part of their lives, even after recognizing the danger she might bring. Like Stranger Things, Sweet Home also begins with Hyun-su's story. Just like Eleven, he is also left alone as he loses all of his family in a tragic car accident.

As Eleven becomes part of Mike and his friends' group, Hyun-su, who also recently relocated to Green Home Apartments, also becomes a part of the group, which consists of his neighbors trying to survive the apocalypse, where everyone around them is turning into monsters.

Hyun-su also becomes one of the monsters that the group fears. However, he turns out to be different from other monsters, as unlike others, he can control the monster inside him and does not attack others. But just like how some were doubtful of Eleven at first, Hyun-su's friends also take time to trust him due to his being infected.

Like Eleven, Hyun-su later becomes this special being that helps and protects the group of friends. While there are several similarities between Stranger Things' Eleven and Sweet Home's Hyun-su, the latter takes a darker tone as the story progresses. In Stranger Things, most of the important characters, especially Eleven's friends, survive the fight with Vecna and get rid of the Upside Down, but Hyun-su loses many of his friends throughout the 3 seasons.

If you enjoyed watching Stranger Things, the horror K-drama should be on your watchlist next due to its story that introduces a similar type of characters and several emotional moments, and also various survival elements that would keep you on the edge of your seat.
