Is Marylin Thornhill actually dead in Wednesday Season 2? Here’s what fans are speculating on a Reddit post

Marilyn Thornhill’s narrative looked to come to a close in Wednesday Season 2, though some fans don't buy it. The character, played by Christina Ricci, started out as an ostensibly sweet botanical sciences teacher, then we later learned she was actually the evil Laurel Gates.

As seen in the first chapter, she presented herself as the caring and loving dorm mom of Wednesday Addams and Enid Sinclair. She even had a habit of gifting plants to students that matched their traits and interests.

Even viewers were convinced that she was truly a supportive teacher until the truth came out. Marylin was behind unleashing the Hyde inside Tyler and then welcoming Crackstone to destroy Nevermore.

She gave it all to ruin the academy and the outcasts, believing they deserved it. However, Wednesday and her fellow Outcasts managed to defeat her and put an end to the destruction.

After her violent battles in Season 1 and likely demise, Wednesday Season 2 confirmed her return... but concluded with that shocking scene where Tyler gets revenge. But was that really a conclusion for Thornhill? On Reddit, fans are putting out theories that might suggest otherwise.

Fans think Myrylin Thornhill's story is still not over in Wednesday Season 2 Part 1

The Addams family and all other main characters returned in Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 on Netflix, and since the series also focuses on some of the most evil figures, how can we not expect Marilyn Thornhill to appear?

After all, she's the one who played the biggest role in transforming Tyler into a monster, who knows nothing but to kill people when the master orders him to. However, she ended up being defeated in the Season 1 finale, after which Tyler was sent to Willow Hill.

In Wednesday Season 2, Thornhill is brought to Willow Hill, where Dr. Fairburn asks for help. But Marylin denies, and later, when chaos breaks out in Part 1's finale, Marylin is seen being killed by Tyler.

But some fans still believe she might be alive, as the show cannot "cut off" her story like this. A post shared by @wednesdsyfan reads:

"In my opinion, she didn’t die bc they would’ve shown it – after all they showed the deaths of the mayor, dr. Kinbott etc... She’ll most likely return sooner or later."

The fan also mentioned that Netflix has been reminding us about Thornhill, hinting at her return. Another fan, @OldBiscotti3535, also thinks Marilyn Thornhill is alive:

"i dont think she died, because otherwise all of Eugene's bees would have died when they sting her, and I dont think Wednesday killed her when she kicked her. otherwise she would have mentioned "my first killing'" or something."

The fan speculates that she might be arrested after being attacked by Tyler. User @wednesdays-child7 wrote:

"I agree, I think if she does come back she’ll most likely be locked up in some sort of institution... hints at a possible return and I’d love to see that happen."

Another crucial detail about Marilyn Thornhill in Season 2, Part 1 is that she still knows how to control Tyler. When Fairburn asked her to reveal, she placed a condition and didn't offer much help.

So, keeping her alive might be important to catch Tyler as he is finally free, hoping to kill Enid and others. The Hyde inside him remains as dangerous as ever, and Marylin Thornhill might know another way to control him.

Not only this, if the mystery woman turns out to be Tyler's mother, then it would be intriguing to watch her clash with Thornhill. It could be possible that the woman might kill Thornhill for unleashing Hyde and ruining his son's life.
