Is Matt Lauria leaving Sheriff Country? Speculations explored

Since the first episode, Sheriff Country has been receiving good reviews from fans of the Fie Country universe, not only for the return of Mickey Fox but also for how the show keeps up with the ongoing struggles of the new sheriff while also focusing on new cases in Edgewater.

And after watching episode 5, which hints that Boone is moving away, fans have been speculating whether Matt Lauria is departing from the show. Thankfully, Matt Lauria isn't leaving Sheriff Country and remains a key figure in the CBS drama.

Though he clashed with Mickey and even gave his resignation letter, the writers won't end Boone's story. His journey in Edgewater continues, as Boone has finally taken up a new job and is no longer working alongside Mickey.

So fans who've been worried about Lauria leaving the show, the actor isn't going anywhere. Only five episodes have come out so far, with the new sheriff already facing several problems, including Skye's possible involvement in Brandon's death.

Matt Lauria is not leaving Sheriff Country: His character remains a key figure in the CBS drama

Just like Fire Country, Sheriff Country also takes place in Edgewater. However, the first show focuses on the firefighters and their personal lives, while the newly released drama is all about Mickey Fox, serving as the sheriff and trying to solve criminal cases in the town.

Even though Mickey didn't wish to take on the position of the sheriff, she had to accept it because Boone had been passed over. And then, he left the Sheriff's department, leaving Mickey confused and stressed out.

Both Mickey and Boone are the main characters in the story, which means Matt Lauria will appear in the upcoming episodes. Though he's not working with Mickey, Boone has a new job in Alameda County, and his dynamics with the sheriff also continue to change.

Surprisingly, episode 5 of Sheriff Country also shows Boone introducing Mickey to his wife. This comes as a shock to Mickey, as she never knew that Boone had a life partner. But now that she has met Nora and is trying to improve her partnership with Boone, the show is expected to show more personal side of Lauria's character.

Episode 5 of Sheriff Country sees Mickey and Boone forced to work together on a dangerous escort mission. Their task is to get Val, a pregnant witness, to safety before a hitman can reach her.

While on her mission, Mickey and Boone clashed over past disputes. Being stuck on the road with Val forces them to finally talk about the fallout between them. Boone owns up to his mistakes, and Mickey realizes she’s not as ready to walk away from their partnership as she thought.

Now that they've said it all, Boone destroys his resignation letter. Just when it seems like they’re finding their footing again, Boone drops a bombshell: he introduces Mickey to his wife, Nora.

Back at the station, Cassidy takes the lead and works on a staged bathroom fire with a quick Manny/Fire Country cameo. She then later helps a victim of domestic violence, as she is someone who has also experienced this.
