Is Peacemaker Season 2 adapting "The Multiversity: Pax Americana" storyline? Exploring speculations

As Peacemaker Season 2 is just a week away from now, several theories are floating across the internet. Some also believe that the upcoming season is adapting some elements of the 2014 DC storyline, The Multiversity: Pax Americana, written by Grant Morrison with art by Frank Quitely. This theory comes from the fact that the upcoming season is set to feature an Earth in which the Peacemaker is respected.

On the surface, it may look like Peacemaker Season 2 is indeed adapting the 2014 storyline. However, it must be noted that for now, the trailer shows that the alternate Earth seen in the trailer only has Peacemaker and no other hero, as it is in the 2014 book. Thus, like several superhero adaptations, it may take a small portion of a specific comic and adapt it to suit the show's sensibilities.

What is the story of Peacemaker Season 2's supposed source material, The Multiversity: Pax Americana?

The Multiversity: Pax Americana unfolds on a DC Earth in which five heroes protect the world. Those five superheroes protecting the Earth are Blue Beetle, Nightshade, Captain Atom, Peacemaker, and The Question. The story is about Peacemaker falling into a political trap that could change the entire face of superheroes in America. The synopsis for the supposed source material of Peacemaker Season 2 reads:

"Brace yourselves for the next exciting chapter of THE MULTIVERSITY as the acclaimed ALL-STAR SUPERMAN team of writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely investigate the conspiracy on Earth-4, home of Pax Americana! What is Peacemaker Season 2 about?

As mentioned before, it seems that James Gunn is taking the element of a respected and beloved Christopher Smith for the upcoming season of Peacemaker from the 2014 book. Other than that small element, it seems that the rest of the season might be original. Based on the trailer, it seems that Chris uses his pocket dimension, dubbed the Quantum Unfolding Chamber or QUC, to escape his current predicament.

James Gunn teased the role of QUC in a May 2025 Entertainment Weekly interview:

"You've seen what we call the QUC, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, in the first season of Peacemaker, and we see more about that technology in Superman. The QUC is the center of the story in Peacemaker season 2... We see a lot of different characters from Superman in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from Superman. There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show."
