Family or Fiancé Season 4 Episode 10: Lamar shares his thoughts on dowry, celebration, and his childhood

Family or Fiancé Season 4 Episode 10 featured Christina and Lamar sharing their thoughts with show host Tracy McMillan. As she asked various questions, it helped Lamar and Tracy open up to each other about many things.

The host asked Christina if her parents "needed" money or if it was a "respect thing."

"It's a respect thing. It took a lot of sacrifice, a lot of hard work to raise me. The dowry is just a token of appreciation. Yeah. I think another thing that he (Lamar) doesn't understand with my culture is the fact that we like to celebrate a lot. We love to party. We love to have a good time," responded Christina.

Listening to her talk about her culture and how they celebrate everything, the host turned to Lamar. She asked if he also liked similar things.

Family or Fiancé star Lamar said he was not a party person. So whenever there was an event, he would be "quiet" and on the "side." He noted that it was not with Christina's family, but he was "the same way" at most places.

"But I think they think it's because I don't want to be around," added Lamar.

Christina stated that every time Lamar arrived at her parents' home, there was tension.

Tracy McMillan then asked Lamar about his childhood. Family or Fiancé star Lamar shared that his childhood was "really rough." He clarified that by "poverty," he meant "dirt poor." The cast member recalled how his parents were addicts and they died in the '80s drug epidemic.

"There was times where we were actually getting ready to be taken away from my mother coz she hadn't even been home in, you know, four or five days at a time sometimes," said Lamar.

Tracy mentioned how his mom recently passed. Lamar mentioned that his mother was "extremely loving."

Although how much she was able to provide them all with "anything," Lamar said, there was no question about the love she had for everyone. Lamar confessed that opening up about his childhood was something that was "really hard" for him.

Seeing how Lamar struggled, the Family or Fiancé host mentioned that she was a foster child and that she had been given up. She stated that she was in "20" homes and that she also doesn't celebrate anything. The reason behind that was that it brought her all the "grief."
