Murder In A Small Town Season 2 is arriving on the screens September 23, 2025. The show revolves around Karl Alberg, played by Rossif Sutherland, a detective who moves from Minneapolis to Gibsons in the hope of finding solace.

However, he ends up encountering some high-stakes cases in the coastal town, realizing that a detective can never be off duty. Meanwhile, he is supported by Cassandra Lee, played by Kristin Kreuk, and the two have an on-and-off relationship in Season 1.

Now that Murder In A Small Town Season 2 is here, Sutherland and Kreuk have talked about how the show will continue to explore the romance between Karl and Cassandra. In an interview with Deadline, Sutherland said that despite being in love, things are going to be complicated between the two:

“There’s still a bit of a tiptoeing. There’s still a dance, because it’s all so delicate and complicated, but it’s all on top [of a] foundation of love.”

At the end of the previous season, Karl and Cassandra decided to be together. Meanwhile, Cassandra was elected to the town council, and her political career could now impact her relationship with Karl. Opening up about their future together in Murder In A Small Town Season 2, Rossif Sutherland teased that there will be some friction between the two:

“[There will be a butting of heads, just for the practicalities of his needs.”

On the other hand, Kristin Kreuk teased that Cassandra’s election to the town council will help her seek funding for different departments, including police and arts:

“She is trying to accomplish what she wants for the community, which is a social safety net and some arts funding…whilst at the same time the police department needs funding, needs more people, because Carl’s jurisdiction has been expanded.”
“So her ambitions are very much trying to accomplish the ends that she set out to achieve, but coming up against a whole bunch of roadblocks, the mayor being one of them, and the money situation of the town being another.”

Further addressing how Cassandra has always been focused on doing the best for her community, Kreuk said:

“Cassandra was, and always has been, very focused on her small community that she came back [to] for a reason, and it’s a place that she really wants to make better and enrich. She did it through the library for the longest time.”

Karl and Cassandra have to deal with some new cases in Murder In A Small Town Season 2. The first season, featuring eight episodes, premiered on Global in Canada and Fox in the US in September 2024.
