What time does Murder in a Small Town Season 2 premiere? Streaming options explored

Murder in a Small Town Season 2 will return to the TV screens this Wednesday after an eight-episode run between September and November 2024. The series, which adapts L. R. Wright's The Alberg and Cassandra Mysteries books, was renewed for a second season in January this year. It seems Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk are returning as Karl Alberg and Cassandra Lee, respectively.

Kreuk, who is known for playing Lana Lang in Smallville, hyped up the second season in a recent interview with WTVO. She teased that fans will be able to delve into the town more deeply in Murder in a Small Town Season 2, as basic details were established back in the first season:

"Because the characters are established, we get to delve into some of the characters in the town. We get to go deeper into the relationship between Karl and Cassandra. Seeing these two navigate their way through a relationship at the ages that they are at is really lovely."

Malcolm Jamal Warner, who is known for his role as Theodore Huxtable in The Cosby Show, will be in the third episode of the series. Warner passed away two months ago, in July 2025, as he drowned on a beach in Limón Province, Costa Rica. This makes Murder in a Small Town Season 2 one of Malcolm Jamal Warner's last roles. In the series, he plays Richard Buscombe, a protective single father.

Showrunner Ian Weir appreciated Warner's performance in a recent PEOPLE interview this way:

"His performance — as a struggling single dad, fiercely protective of his daughter — just glows with integrity. He found levels that I hadn't imagined."

What do we know about the series?

As mentioned before, the show adapts L. R. Wright's The Alberg and Cassandra Mysteries, which were published between 1985 and 1997. The show follows Rossif Sutherland's police detective Karl Alberg, who moves to the idyllic Canadian town of Gibsons for his mental health after exhaustion from working in a big city. However, he is dragged back to police work in this town to solve some mysterious crimes that demand his skills.

"Karl Alberg moves to the idyllic coastal town of Gibsons to become the new police chief and soothe a psyche that has been battered by big-city police work. Unfortunately, the gentle paradise has more than its share of secrets, and Karl needs to call upon all the skills that made him a world-class detective in solving the murders that, even in this seemingly idyllic setting, continue to wash up on his shore.
