The thing that has people excited for IT: Welcome to Derry Episode 7 is that the promo hinted at the flashback of Pennywise before he was corrupted by the demonic entity.

Episode seven might be a flashback episode:

The minute-long promo heavily focuses on Bob Gray, the circus clown who would go on to haunt Derry as Pennywise the clown for at least a century. However, the promo suggests that the next episode might mostly be set in the early 20th Century CE. Thus, the upcoming Welcome to Derry episode will expand upon this version of Pennywise the Clown established by the Muschietti siblings.

However, it should also be noted that this version of Pennywise is a bit different from the one that Stephen King wrote for the 1986 movie. In the books, IT, the demonic entity crashed onto the Earth billions of years ago, and the town of Derry was built over the area where Pennywise crashed. The Deadlights we saw in 2019's It Chapter Two is IT's original form.

The closest thing that the human mind can comprehend IT is through the spider and Pennywise the Clown forms. While the Muschiettis retained the clown and spider forms and Pennywise's 27-year hibernation period, the next episode may change the entity's age. But this allows the makers to expand on the human Bob Gray's past before he was killed by IT.

The sixth episode confirmed the long-standing theory that Ingrid Kersh is indeed Bob Gray's daughter, who believes that a bit of her father is still inside the demonic entity. This is why she also sacrifices a girl in 1935, just to meet the being she believes to be her father. The IT: Welcome to Derry Episode 7 promo also features a moment of Bob teaching young Ingrid her clown pose in the early 20th Century.

Given that we already saw "Ingrid Kersh" as one of Pennywise's forms in It Chapter Two, we will see Ingrid meet her tragic end at the demonic entity's hands, whom she believes to be her father. Overall, the next episode might be a tragic episode too.

Welcome to Derry is set to conclude its eight-episode run in two weeks on December 14, 2025. Stream the six episodes on HBO Max as we wait for the penultimate episode.
