After the 1908 flashback in the prologue, the episode cuts to 1962, where the group of racists led by Clint Bowers raid The Black Spot bar to lynch Hank Gorgan.The fuigitive man even offers himself to be mob but the military bar patrons stop him and force the racist group to retreat. While the patrons initially believe that the group have left, this proves to be a fatal mistake, as the group cuts off the power and locks the doors. Later, they burn down the bar, endangering everyone, including kids, resulting in a devastating death.Dick Hallorann, who has been seeing spirits since the fifth episode acknowlesges the spirit of the Native American warrior Seski. The day after the burning, he takes the US army to her burial site, where the army finally finds one of the pillars. that's keeping Pennywise at the bay.Dick also reveals that he can't feel Pennywise anymorre. That's because the previous scene reveals that he has gone into hibernation. After finding the pillar, the army takes it to a different site than Leroy was ordered to. The army is about to melt that pillar, when Leroy tries to stop it from happening. However, this is where he learns a devastating truth about Francis Shaw's plan."A vigilante attack on the Black Spot unleashes long dormant forces.
